Investcorp, a provider and manager of alternative investment products, has appointed Rebecca Hellerstein as a managing director in the firm’s hedge fund business in a newly created role as a cross asset strategist. Hellerstein will have primary responsibility for fundamental cross asset and alternative risk factors research. Trading in investment products and leverage products on the European financial markets fell in the second quarter of 2014. At EUR26.4 billion, the trading volume was down 21.0 per cent compared with the previous quarter.   Exchange turnover was down 9.8 per cent in comparison with the same quarter of 2013, according to an analysis by Derivative Partners Research of the latest market data collected by the European Structured Investment Products Association (EUSIPA) from its members.   The trading volume of investment products on the European exchanges in the second quarter of 2014 was EUR9.4 billion, 35.6 per cent of
Global Investment House’s Mayur Hedge Fund, a long short absolute return growth oriented fund with a net long bias, has reported a 49 per cent return for the first six months ending 30 June 2014. Cash markets average daily volume at Euronext increased 11.6 per cent for the month of August 2014 compared to August 2013, an average daily volume increase of 13 per cent year-to-date. The Bank of England has approved LME Clear’s application as a central counterparty under the European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR). LME Clear’s authorisation is effective from 3 September 2014.   The bank’s decision followed a positive opinion reached on 28 July 2014 by a college of regulators and central banks from France, Germany and the UK.   “This is exciting news for LME Clear. August 2014 was the busiest month all-time for average daily volume and total trading volume, both exchange-wide at CFE and for futures on the CBOE Volatility Index (VIX Index). State Street Corporation has appointed Bob Keogh as head of alternative investment solutions (AIS) for the Asia Pacific region. Based in Hong Kong, Keogh will assume responsibility for the hedge fund, private equity and real estate businesses in Asia Pacific.   He has more than two decades of experience in financial services, the last 14 of which have been in the hedge fund industry.
