Calypso Technology has released an interface to the DTCC’s global trade repository service (GTR) for EMIR (European Markets Infrastructure Regulation) reporting.
DTCC’s GTR, which is one of the six TRs approved by the European Securities Markets Association, offers regulators transparency into the USD650trn OTC market.
The Calypso product is released in advance of the 12 February 2014 deadline for EMIR trade repository reporting for all asset classes. The module is an extension of Calypso’s OTC Clearing Solution for CCPs, clearing members and derivatives end users. Mariner Investment Group has named Robert Hodgson and Michael Oberdorf to run a global healthcare long/short equity portfolio on the Mariner Incubation Platform.
Mariner originally launched the mandate in April 2013 to be managed by leading investment talent sourced from the hedge fund industry.
Hodgson and Oberdorf formerly were founding partners and portfolio managers of Lenus Capital Partners where they managed a long/short equity healthcare fund, and had previously worked closely together at both BlackRock and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.
It is the fifth addition to the investment team managing the current Mariner Incubation Platform mandate.

The MV Emerging Markets L/S Equity Hedge Fund Beta Index was the worst performer down 3.46 per cent.
This was followed by MV Asia (Developed) L/S Equity Hedge Fund Beta Index (-3.29 per cent), MV North America L/S Equity Hedge Fund Beta Index (-2.62 per cent), MV Global L/S Equity Hedge Fund Beta Index (-2.02 per cent), and MV Western Europe L/S Equity Hedge Fund Beta Index (-1.91 per cent).

European equity buy-side firms are struggling to pay for research by order flow alone, with nearly two-thirds saying research will eventually be paid from management fees, forcing radical change to payment models.

The Conifer Group and Vastardis Capital Services have signed a definitive merger agreement to combine their respective businesses.
The newly formed company, to be called Conifer Financial Services, will be one of the largest independent alternative asset services firms offering expanded capabilities to clients on a global scale.
At inception, Conifer Financial Services will have combined assets under administration (AUA) of more than USD70bn and offer trade execution services to over 200 clients worldwide.
Jack McDonald, currently CEO of Conifer Group, will become president and CEO. William Vastardis, founder and president of Vastardis, will be named chairman.

Order book turnover on Xetra, the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and Tradegate stood at EUR124.9bn in January 2014, up from EUR94.6bn in January 2013.
Of the EUR124.9bn, EUR112.9bn were attributable to Xetra (January 2013: EUR85.5bn) and EUR5.8bn were attributable to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (January 2013: EUR5.2bn).
Order book turnover on Tradegate Exchange totalled approximately EUR6.2bn in January (January 2013: EUR3.9bn).
In equities, turnover reached EUR108.2bn on Deutsche Börse’s cash markets (Xetra: EUR99.7bn, Frankfurt Stock Exchange: EUR2.9bn, Tradegate Exchange: EUR5.7bn). Turnover in bonds was EUR1.1bn, and in structured products EUR1.8bn. Order book turnover in ETFs/ETCs/ETNs amounted to EUR13.6bn.


Schulte Roth & Zabel (SRZ) has added Steven Whittaker as a partner in the investment management group, resident in the firm's London office.
Whittaker joins SRZ from Simmons & Simmons.
