BT is joining forces with mobile operator Truphone to market a recording service for mobile devices to support US firms’ compliance with the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act.   Under the “oral record-keeping” requirement of the Act, all companies operating or doing business with an organisation in the US for certain regulated trading activities have to record all communications from mobile devices that lead to a trade. This information must be stored for a year in a retrievable format that can be easily searched, and includes conversations and data interactions made on mobile devices such as mobile phones and smartphones.   
Commerzbank and Clearstream have teamed up to offer their clients increased efficiency and reduced risk to cleared and uncleared OTC derivative transactions.   The new TradeCycle service will be launched in Q4 2013 and is the first integrated service of its kind.   The joint offering will provide clients access to an integrated management solution for the OTC derivative trade lifecycle: from trading to clearing, settlement and custody, including key services such as advisory, valuation, and collateral management.   Market participants will benefit from an end-to-end solution for the handling of OTC derivatives which will allow them to minimise operational
BCS Prime Brokerage, the international arm of the largest trader of equities and derivatives on the Russian exchange, has appointed Succession Systems to launch a pre-trade Market Access risk system, TripleCheck.    The system delivers ultra-low latency risk management for Direct Market Access (DMA) clients including proprietary and algorithmic trading firms.   The Market Access system is the fastest software pre-trade solution available for the Russian markets.  It offers single digit microsecond latency one way, wire to wire.  Additional markets will be added in the coming months.   New regulation rules for risk management on international markets are driving clients

The CFTC has approved for publication in the Federal Register a Concept Release on Risk Controls and System Safeguards for Automated Trading Environments. The Concept Release reflects the Commission’s ongoing commitment to the safety and soundness of US derivatives markets in a time of rapid technological change, and provides a platform for discussion and analysis of the appropriate responses to such changes.  The Concept Release provides an overview of the automated trading environment, including its principal actors, potential risks, and responsive measures taken to date by the Commission or industry participants.  The Concept Release also discusses a series of (1)
Hedge funds see institutional credibility as a key element for profitability and achieving growth, according to new research.   The report, Hedge Fund Trends and Challenges: Achieving Institutional Credibility, is to be published next week by SunGard Financial Systems and Aite Group, the analyst firm.   The research, which surveyed 40 senior executives and managers from Tier I and Tier II hedge funds in the US, Europe and Asia highlights how nearly 80 per cent of firms see their investment management infrastructure as critical to achieving more efficient operations.   The concept of institutional credibility is the idea of the
ICAP plc, a markets operator and provider of post trade risk mitigation and information services, has appointed Benjamin Chtromberg as a futures and options broker.   He is based in ICAP’s Dubai office, which was opened in May last year and is led by Sharaz Hussain.   Chtromberg was previously at GMG Brokers where he held roles in both Dubai and London, including most recently as head of futures and options in Dubai focusing on long and short term interest rates.   Chtromberg joins the existing team based in the DIFC. Data connectivity between the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) Data Repository (DDR) and TriOptima’s triResolve portfolio reconciliation service, first announced in June, is now live and operational.    The service, which enables the reconciliation of OTC derivatives trades reported to DTCC’s US trade repository, is a significant step aimed at improving portfolio risk management for dealers and end users.    It will help ensure compliance with the CFTC mandated reconciliation deadline of 23 August. DTCC and TriOptima anticipate that their collaboration can also be extended to market participants in Europe where portfolio reconciliation and trade reporting rules will come into
Total assets of the world’s largest 300 pension funds grew by almost 10 per cent in 2012, compared to around two per cent in 2011, to reach a new high of USD14.0trn, according to new research.   The P&I/Towers Watson global 300 research, conducted in conjunction with Pensions & Investments, shows that last year’s growth in assets was among the highest recorded in recent years; similar to 2010 (11 per cent) but not the exceptional growth of 14 per cent recorded in 2007.   By individual region, Asia-Pacific has had the highest five-year compound growth rate of seven per cent
