Two new recruits in New York have boosted Equity Trust’s presence in the North American market. Felicia Fratila and Lawrence Kho, experienced professionals who have worked for Equity Trust since 2007, have moved to New York to join local Managing Director Wouter Plantenga.

The Isle of Man has signed a Tax Information Exchange Agreement (TIEA) with Mexico. The TIEA was signed by Mexico’s Minister of Finance and Public Credit, Ernesto Javier Cordero Arroyo, in Mexico City on 18th March 2011 and by Manx Treasury Minister, Anne Craine MHK, in Douglas on 11th April 2011, and exchanged by post.
This is the Isle of Man’s 21st TIEA and its 25th agreement that meets the OECD international standard on tax co-operation and transparency.

A recent survey conducted by Thesis Fund Management, a New York based registered investment advisor and manager of The Flexible Fund (TFLEX), has revealed that many Americans are in the dark when it comes to hedge funds. When asked if they know what a hedge fund is, 65 percent of the 1,000 survey participants with varying income levels responded that they do not.
Though hedge funds are typically reserved for wealthier consumers, mutual funds have begun adopting their strategies to make them available to the average investor, making it increasingly important to educate consumers about hedge fund strategies.

Jersey will become the first of the Crown Dependencies to offer Incorporated Limited Partnerships (ILPs) and to create a dedicated and distinct law for the constitution of Separate Limited Partnerships (SLPs). Both new structures will further enhance Jersey’s international appeal as a domicile for funds and other investment entities.
It was announced at the annual Jersey Finance funds conference and exhibition in London yesterday that SLPs will be able to be formed in Jersey from 20th April and ILPs from 24th May.

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has launched two RBS Market Access Currency Hedged ETFs on NYSE Euronext’s Amsterdam market. These new currency hedged ETFs enable investors to invest internationally and hedge currency exposure in one trade, without having to monitor and maintain a currency hedge.
The new ETFs, which were created by RBS to provide Euro hedged exposure to the major benchmark indices S&P 500 and TOPIX, are the RBS Market Access S&P 500 EUR Hedged Index ETF, and the RBS Market Access TOPIX EUR Hedged Index ETF.

Carne Global Financial Services has added a senior figure in the Irish funds industry to its growing list of experienced independent fund directors, with Mary Murphy joining the firm as a Managing Director, Alternatives.
