Cowen Group has formed Ramius Trading Strategies, a subsidiary of Ramius Alternative Solutions, and launched the RTS Global Fund.
The multi-manager RTS Global Fund offers clients exposure to hedge funds focused on active trading strategies, primarily managed futures and global macro, through Ramius Trading Strategies’ newly developed managed account platform.
RTS is headed by William Marr, formerly global head of hedge fund research and portfolio construction at Merrill Lynch.
Senior members of the investment team include Alexander Rudin as director of investment research and Nadine Haidar as head of business due diligence.

Citigroup has appointed Sanjiv Sawhney as global head of fund services for Citi’s securities and fund services business.
In this new position, Sawhney will provide leadership for Citi’s hedge fund, private equity and mutual fund administration businesses globally within Citi’s suite of investor services solutions.
Sawhney will report to Neeraj Sahai, global head of Citi’s securities and fund services, and joins from JP Morgan.

Natixis Global Associates and Absolute Asia Asset Management have launched a multi-cap stock fund, the Absolute Asia Dynamic Equity Fund.
The fund invests in the Asian equity markets (excluding Japan) and offers an opportunity for investors to participate in Asian investments through a US ’40 Act mutual fund.
The fund is the first offered in the US by the Singapore-based management team, which has been headquartered in the region for over a decade. The team’s portfolio managers average more than 20 years of investment expertise.

Aladdin Credit Partners (ACP), a joint equity venture formed by co-founders Luke Gosselin and Victor Russo, and Aladdin Capital Holdings, has announced the closing of its USD573m initial credit opportunites funds, Aladdin Credit Partners I LP and Aladdin Credit Offshire Fund I LP.
Both ACP funds are focused on investing in restructuring-related opportunites including rescue financing, debtor-in-possession financing, and plan confirmation financing.

RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has hired Raymond Schumertl as a director for global macro FX sales.
Schumertl will be based in RBC’s Hong Kong office and will report to Natasha Brook-Walters, global head of macro FX, RBC Capital Markets.
Schumertl joins RBC Capital Markets with over 18 years’ experience, most recently at Morgan Stanley where he was an executive director in FX institutional sales based in Tokyo.
Prior to this he held senior positions at Chase Manhattan Bank and Bank of America.

According to research published by Tabb, spending by brokers and trading venues in Europe on post- Mifid trading surveillance products will increase by a compound annual growth rate of 13 per cent from 2009 to 2012, rising to EUR185m in 2012.
As vendor products become more widely available, says Miranda Mizen, principal at Tabb and co-author of the report, the ratio of internal versus external purchases will decline from 70
