Aros Capital Partners, the recently launched Anglo-Danish hedge fund manager, has appointed Tom Muchiri Kabuga as an analyst in its investment team.
His remit will be to focus specifically on the development of the Aros Altru Fund, a new altruistic fund to be launched in Q1 2010.
Kabuga, originally from Kenya, founded a Kenya-based consulting and trade firm, which fosters Afro-Chinese partnerships, and in 2002 co-founded Creative Resources Global in China, which develops partners and suppliers through engineering consulting, technology transfer and supply-chain management. He has also delivered on several strategy consulting projects with start up companies.

BlueCrest Capital Management has launched a multi-strategy equity market neutral fund called BlueCube.
The new fund currently trades a universe of 300-500 European stocks and will eventually expand to include the US and Japanese markets. The fund is looking to generate returns of ten to 15 per cent with volatility of five to eight per cent.
BlueCube has initially started trading with four sub-strategies that span three styles: technical, fundamental and sentiment-based. The firm has developed a dynamic rotation method for allocating between the sub-strategies that is based in part on methods employed in the BlueTrend managed futures programme.
Global Investment House has appointed Rajiv Nakani as senior vice president to head the company’s alternative asset management business.
Nakani (pictured) has more than 16 years’ experience in investing and investment banking and brings in-depth sector experience in financial services, telecom, media, retail, logistics, healthcare, education and real estate.
Nakani was Global’s head of investment banking from August 2004 to June 2007.

Naissance Capital, a Swiss-based alternative investments manager, has launched the Women’s Leadership Fund to invest in companies having a greater than average number of women in key roles.
The eight-member board of the new fund encompasses seven top career women from around the world, including Cherie Blair, prominent lawyer and wife of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Kim Campbell and Jenny Shipley, respectively former prime ministers of Canada and New Zealand, and Wendy Luhabe, chair of South Africa’s Industrial Development Corporation and one of Africa’s leading entrepreneurs.

There is a common agreement amongst the financial services industry that the proposed Directive on Alternative Investment Fund Managers was drafted in a hurry and is capable of vast improvement.

Hedge fund manager Molinero Capital Management has launched Molinero Global Markets Fund, a systematic CTA hedge fund.
Laven Partners, the London based investment management consultancy and Laven Legal Services, an associated law firm, advised Molinero Capital Management on the structuring and launch of the fund.
The fund aims to produce consistent above average returns through long-term and short-term investments in the global futures markets using a unique proprietary trading programme, while also seeking to mitigate risk through diversification of investments and hedging activities.
