Deutsche Bank has launched a Ucits III compliant currency fund, a benchmark index product which offers institutional investors access to broad currency market returns.
The fund, called the DB Platinum Currency Returns Plus Fund, offers exposure to the Deutsche Bank Currency Returns + Index and is available in EUR, USD and GBP.
The DBCR+ Index has been developed to capture the bulk of currency market returns by investing equally into three core investment strategies:
• Carry: exploits differences in interest rates across G10 and emerging markets economies
• Momentum: exploits G10 currencies’ tendency to trend over the short-to medium-term
• Valuation: exploits G10

Managed futures managers were able to capitalise on bullish trends in the stock markets and long positions in a number of commodities in August, posting a 0.86 per cent return for the month, according to Lipper Tass.
This brings the sub-strategy’s performance to minus 1.80 per cent since the beginning of the year, and a positive 6.08 per cent for the rolling 12-month window in US-dollar terms.

Fund of hedge funds manager Oakley Capital has appointed Julita Tonkich as an investment analyst.
Tonkich will be responsible for supporting the portfolio managers of the Oakley Absolute Return Fund.
Prior to joining Oakley, Tonkich was an investment analyst at Millennium Global Investments, where she was actively involved in long/short and event driven hedge fund search and monitoring through qualitative and quantitative research. Preceding this, she was an assistant fund manager at Margetts Fund Management.
