Oil trader Pierre Andurand’s main hedge fund, the Andurand Commodities Discretionary Enhanced Fund, which makes leveraged bets, fell by another 7% this month, taking year-to-date losses to a record 51%, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Davidson Kempner Capital Management is reviewing its decision to provide Indian ed-tech firm Byju’s with a $250 million loan, amid a deepening crisis at the firm, and to date, has not fully disbursed the funds, according to a report by Bloomberg. The report cites unnamed sources as revealing that Davidson Kempner, which is one of the world’s biggest hedge fund firms with more than $38 billion in assets under management, has so far provided less than half of the $250 million of convertible debt it originally offered, as the Indian startup has failed to meet some loan agreement covenants.  Questions
Gresham Investment Management managing director and head of the New York hedge fund’s systematic product strategy, Irene Perdomo, has joined Dubai-based Ocean Leonid Investments as co-head of the proprietary trading firm’s systematic strategies. Perdomo who spent the past three years at Gresham, started her career at Barclays in 2009 as a vice-president of commodities, before moving to the metals trading desk of Noble Group in June 2012. Versor Investments, a quant investment firm focused on liquid alternatives, has launched the Versor Equity Prism Strategy, which invests in single name stocks and equity index futures across the globe in a market-neutral fashion, to outside investors. Alpha Theory, a portfolio management and decision-processing platform for the global alternative investment industry, has partnered with FactSet, a global financial digital platform, to provide investment managers with systematic factor exposure data. In collaboration with FactSet’s Quantitative Analytics team, Alpha Theory has built a five-factor risk model leveraging the company’s Quant Factor Library – a point-in-time database of factor insights, including Value, Growth, Momentum, Volatility, and Beta.  The new dataset combines FactSet’s factor data with Alpha Engine, Alpha Theory’s customisable rules engine, providing investment teams with daily factor exposure and attribution. 
Cboe Global Markets is expanding its corporate bond index product suite with two new offerings – new options on Cboe iBoxx iShares $ High Yield Corporate Bond Index futures and Cboe iBoxx iShares $ Investment Grade Corporate Bond Index futures, and extended trading hours for IBHY and IGIB futures. The new options will be available from 10 July, while the extension to almost 24-hour per weekday trading will happen in the third quarter of 2023.
