GCEX, an FCA regulated digital brokerage that enables brokers, funds and professional traders to access deep liquidity in digital assets and FX, has virtually doubled its crypto offering, with the addition of 18 new tokens. The new products include The Sandbox (SAND), Decentraland (MANA), Binance USD (BUSD), Dai (DAI) and FTX (FTT). They have all been introduced in response to client demand, bringing the total number of coins and tokens available from GCEX to 41.
Activist hedge fund Elliott Management is actively seeking deals in the US oil and gas sector, according to a report by Bloomberg. In a somewhat contrarian strategy, the fund, founded and co-led by billionaire investor Paul Singer, is said to have written to energy bankers in January in search of opportunities to acquire US oil and gas acreage. The report cites an unnamed source as saying that Elliott wants to provide capital to management teams involved in the acquisition and development of land for oil and gas production.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has announced fraud charges against Detroit-based EIA All Weather Alpha Fund I Partners LLC (EIA) and its sole owner, Andrew M Middlebrooks, for allegedly engaging in a multi-year scheme that included the misappropriation and misuse of investors’ funds. To halt this alleged ongoing fraud, the SEC sought, and on 19 May, 2022 obtained, emergency relief from the US District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan, including a temporary restraining order against EIA and Middlebrooks and an asset freeze against the defendants and named relief defendants. Another member of Blackstone’s hedge fund solutions group is leaving the firm in the wake of a change in leadership, according to a report by Bloomberg. The latest MD to depart is Michael Pierog, head of Blackstone Alternative Asset Management’s hedge fund seeding business, whose joined the firm in 2013 from Barclays Plc after having previously worked at Davidson Kempner Capital Management. Blackstone spokesperson Paula Chirhart confirmed in a statement that managing director Brian Snider will be promoted to succeed Pierog.
