US hedge fund managers are paying increased attention to the incorporation of environmental, social and governance factors in their strategies according to a report by Pensions & Investments.
Investor demand though, remains below that seen in Europe.
The reports quotes ‘sources’ as saying that while the inclusion of one or more ESG factors or the creation of dedicated ESG fund has been the norm for some managers for several years, others are still are ‘evaluating’ ESG incorporation.
The SS&C GlobeOp Forward Redemption Indicator for May 2022 measured 1.97%, up from 1.48% in April.
“SS&C GlobeOp’s Forward Redemption Indicator for May 2022 was 1.97%, representing a decrease in termination notices compared to the 2.46% reported for the same period a year ago,” says Bill Stone, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, SS&C Technologies. “This reduction in terminations continues the recent favorable trend in hedge fund asset retention and is especially noteworthy as it comes in the wake of significant declines in equity and fixed income markets.”

Turmoil in China’s stock markets could worsen significantly if portfolio losses force hedge funds to dump shares, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Bloomberg cites a report by China Merchants Securities Co which quotes an ‘industry data provider’ as revealing that last month approximately 2,350 stock-related hedge funds dropped below a threshold that typically activates clauses forcing them to reduce their exposures with many said to be close to a level that would force them to liquidate their holdings.
Though unusual in other markets, such rules are common in China having been introduced to protect investors from big losses.
State Street Digital, State Street Corporation’s dedicated digital division, has appointed Rob Otter as head of blockchain engineering and Nitin Gaur as digital technology strategy lead.
Otter, based in London reports to Aman Thind, Chief Technology Officer of State Street Digital. Gaur, based in Austin, Texas, will report to Otter.
In his new leadership role, Otter oversees the development and implementation of blockchain technology strategy across State Street Digital, identifying and executing on opportunities for innovation, and prioritising initiatives that will accelerate the division’s business goals.

US-based CTA Drury Capital this month marks 25 years of trading its flagship Diversified Trend-Following Program.

Private client, corporate services and fund administration business Oak Group (Oak) has appointed James Tracey as managing director of its funds business in Guernsey, subject to regulatory approval.
Tracey, who has joined Oak from JTC Group in Guernsey where he has been managing director since 2018, is heading up Oak Fund Services, which delivers specialist bespoke fund administration services to private equity, open ended, listed and alternative asset fund structures.
Tracey has a career in the finance industry spanning more than 20 years and has extensive knowledge of investment and wealth management structures across a wide variety of asset classes.
