Fidelity Investments has launched Fidelity Diversifying Solutions, a new division offer investors access to hedge-fund like strategies, according to a report by Bloomberg. The new liquid alternatives division, headed by president Vadim Zlotnikov, filed to register two new funds at the end of last year, Fidelity Global Macro Opportunities and Fidelity Risk Parity. The liquid alternatives sector, which first took off during the inancial crisis in 2008 before falling out of favour with investsors, has experienced a renaissance during the pandemic, attracting USD29 billion in 2021 when inflows exceed redemption for the first time since 2015, according to Morningstar.
Chainalysis, a blockchain data platform, has partnered with Cross River, a technology-driven financial services organisation that provides core infrastructure and embedded financial solutions. Cross River is known for providing financial services to the fintech and crypto sectors and will utilise Chainalysis tools to compliantly expand its offerings to additional cryptocurrency businesses.  Chainalysis’ technology wrapped into Cross River’s core infrastructure will enable crypto companies to build and scale, while knowing that regulatory expertise and compliance are already built in.
RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) and BlueBay Asset Management (BlueBay) have expanded their European footprint with the opening of a new office in the Netherlands, established to serve both Benelux and Nordic investors more closely and to further strengthen the company’s presence in continental Europe. Hedge funds and other market participants are considering taking legal action against the London Metal Exchange (LME) over the recent problems in the nickel market, according to a report by then Evening Standard. Funds including AQR Capital Management are report to be considering a possible law suit after the LME suddenly suspended trading when the price of nickel doubled and the cancelled USD4 billion of trades. The LME is owned by China’s Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the HKEX.
