Losses abounded in January, but the hedge fund industry largely shielded its investors from the worst. Hedge funds in aggregate were down 2.42 per cent on the month, according to the Barclay Hedge Fund Index compiled by BarclayHedge, a division of Backstop Solutions.

The firm wishes to appeal to a broader base and better reflect the nature of the fund. Previously named the Caravel CAD Fund Ltd, prospective investors were left wondering about the currencies and geographic targets for the fund. To delineate these specifications, the fund managers have officially changed the name to the Caravel Capital Fund Ltd.

Global alternative investment manager Wafra Inc has promoted Adel A Alderbas to Chief Investment Officer (CIO).
Alderbas will work closely with Chief Executive Officer Fawaz Al-Mubaraki to oversee the firm’s investment activities and execute Wafra’s vision to deliver investment solutions that provide long-term prosperity for asset owners around the world.

Spectrum Markets, a pan-European trading venue for securitised derivatives, is collaborating with Euronext Securities Milan, the Central Securities Depository (CSD) for the Italian financial market formerly known as Monte Titoli, to further enhance connectivity and provide pan-EU post-trade solutions.
The new agreement responds to strong demand from Italian financial institutions wanting to join the venue but requiring the option of local settlement. Digital asset investment products saw inflows totalling USD75 million last week, according to the latest weekly Digital Asset Fund Flows report from CoinShares.
There are some regional variances, with USD5.5 million of outflows in the Americas and USD80.7 million of inflows into European investment products.
Ether finally broke its nine-week spell of outflows with inflows totalling USD21 million last week.
Recently created altcoin investment products, terra, tezos and cosmos all saw inflows totalling USD2.2 million, USD0.9 million and USD0.6 million respectively.
