Odey to shutter female-run Brook Global Emerging Markets Fund

Odey Asset Management is shutting its only female run investment vehicle – the Brook Global Emerging Markets Fund – as the firm continues to reorganise operations and deal with the fallout from sexual assault allegations made against founder Crispin Odey, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The report cites a letter sent to Odey AM clients on Tuesday as confirming that the fund, which is run by Sophia Whitbread, will close no later than 22 September, “due to the significant reduction in assets under management”.

According to data compiled by Bloomberg, the fund’s assets, which peaked at $104m earlier this year, had dropped to $33m at the end of July following firm-wide withdrawals in the wake of the allegations against Odey, which he denies.

The fund is the third Odey AM investment vehicle to close, while money managers Freddie Neave, Adrian Courtenay, James Hanbury and Oliver Kelton are being transferred to external investment firms.
