Ogier Cayman appoints Counsel in corporate and investment funds practices

Ogier Cayman has appointed Colin Berryman (pictured) to the role of Counsel in its corporate and investment funds practices, underscoring his contributions to the growth of those groups and his demonstrated excellence in client service.

“Colin is well known among clients and colleagues for the depth of expertise and quality of legal advice he provides, both of which reinforce the strength of Ogier Cayman’s corporate and investment funds practices,” says Peter Cockhill, Managing Partner. “Colin’s appointment to Counsel is an important recognition of his work and is well-deserved.”

Colin’s practice includes advising clients with respect to the formation of, investments into and ongoing affairs of Cayman domiciled investment funds. In addition, he has extensive experience in advising clients in a wide variety of corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, listings, joint ventures and both public and private offerings of debt and equity securities.

Colin, who also heads up Ogier Cayman’s Canadian Practice, joined the firm in 2007 after seven years with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP’s Calgary and Toronto offices. Prior to Osler, Mr Berryman practiced with Donahue Ernst & Young LLP, an independent law firm affiliated with Ernst & Young.

He holds a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree from the University of Ottawa and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto.
