Stamford, CT-based Parker Global Strategies LLC (PGS), a specialist fund of hedge funds manager, has launched a sector-focused strategy investing in US energy infrastructure. The PGS High Income Trust (HIT) is an open ended fund that has initially launched with USD 500 million. The fund allocates to five managers running customised mandates for the Trust.
“Energy infrastructure is vital to the US economy. The sector has sold off significantly over the past year. Most of these companies are not exposed directly to the price of the commodities; providing investors with attractive yields and the potential for growth over time”, said Virginia Parker, Managing Member and CIO of PGS. “The strategy provides an important diversification opportunity as the correlation with traditional equity and bond markets has been relatively low over the years. In a period with extremely challenging markets, we favor strategies which provide attractive yields, solid underlying business fundamentals and liquidity, “
Energy infrastructure may include natural gas and crude oil pipelines, refined products, and storage tanks. Businesses may encompass gathering & processing, refining and transportation.
This is the second fund that PGS has launched in energy and natural resources space. Its first, PGS Global Energy Edge was launched in March 2007 allocating to energy, natural resources, water, and environmental strategies.
PGS provides institutional clients with customised fund of hedge funds, investing across a broad spectrum of strategies, markets, and regions. The firm is known for its innovative investment solutions, including index-linked products, portable alpha, and its comprehensive risk oversight.
Headquartered in Stamford, CT, PGS has in excess of USD 1.1 billion assets under management with offices in Denver, Chicago, Shanghai, Sao Paulo and Tokyo.
