Global investment advisory and alternatives platform Mercury Capital Advisors has appointed Nick Savasta as Chief Investment Officer and Partner, overseeing Investment Advisory.
He will report to Michael Ricciardi, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner, and will lead the firm in advising clients across a range of alternative asset classes including direct private equity investments and allocations to fund managers.
Savasta joins Mercury from Michael Dell’s MSD Partners, where he was Managing Director and Co-Head of MSD’s Strategic Investments Group. Previously, he was a senior merchant banker with Allen & Company. He also worked as an investment banker with Morgan
LUX Fund Technology and Solutions (LUX), a business and technology solutions provider for the alternative asset management industry, has appointed Jeremy Siegel as CEO.
Siegel (pictured), brings 24 years of experience in client relationship management and product and industry knowledge to LUX, having worked with over 500 hedge funds from around the globe helping to grow their businesses through technology, operations and institutional systems. He will be responsible for building out Transcend, the company’s flagship SaaS-based front-to-back office automation technology platform.

Fund administrator Apex Fund Services (Apex) has appointed Richard Dinn as Global Head of Custody and Depositary Sales following the acquisitions of Deutsche Bank AFS and MM Warburg in Luxembourg.
Dinn brings with him over 20 years of broad industry experience providing consultancy support on fund structures and distribution channels across multiple markets worldwide.
As Global Head of Custody and Depositary Sales, Dinn will be based out of Apex’s Dublin office and will report directly to the recently appointed Chief Revenue Officer, Fred Jacobs. He will be focused on expanding and developing the Apex Group’s presence in the Custody
AlphaSimplex Group has hired Dr Kathryn Kaminski as the firm’s chief research strategist. Kaminski (pictured), joins AlphaSimplex from the MIT Laboratory for Financial Engineering. A veteran in the hedge fund industry, she is regarded as an expert in alternative asset classes with a specific concentration in managed futures.
Effective 1 May, 2018, Kaminski will join the portfolio management team for the firm’s managed futures strategies, including the Natixis ASG Managed Futures Strategy Fund (AMFAX) in the US, and The ASG Managed Futures Fund (ASGMSFA), a Luxembourg Sicav.

Mosaic Smart Data (Mosaic), a FICC data analytics company, has appointed Jack Jeffery as Chairman of the Board.
With over 35 years’ experience in the financial markets, Jeffery has previously held CEO positions at electronic fixed income platform MTS and ICAP Electronic Broking, which included responsibility for Brokertec and EBS. Prior to that, he was CEO of EBS, the spot FX electronic broking platform which he guided to its sale to ICAP in 2006. Jeffery also served on the Bank of England and US Federal Reserve Foreign Exchange committees between 1999 and 2007.

SANNE has promoted Sean Murray to Managing Director, Alternative Assets for its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
Based in SANNE’s Luxembourg office, Murray (pictured), has been with SANNE for just over a year. In his new position he will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the EMEA Alternative Assets platform, which includes Private Equity, Private Debt & Capital Markets, Real Estate and Hedge.
Murray had joined the firm from Orangefield in Luxembourg, where he was Managing Director and a member of the global alternative investments management board. He also sat on the board and management team

Prytania Asset Management has appointed Fahd Basir (pictured), as a Managing Director. Basir’s broad structured credit experience over 14 years includes both agent and principal transactions across the capital structure over a wide variety of asset classes.
He will be based in Prytania’s newly opened New York City office.
 
Previously, Basir was a Director at 25 Capital Partners, where he was instrumental in launching a closed-end mortgage opportunities fund. Fulcrum Asset Management (Fulcrum) has appointed Barry McCaldin as Director of Systematic Sales. This new role will support the growth of Fulcrum’s systematic strategies business, which currently has assets in excess of USD2 billion.
Barry joins from Winton, the USD30 billion global investment management and data science company where he had senior client facing roles. Prior to this he was a partner at the Illinois-based systematic global macro fund, Metolius Capital and head of sales and trading for the prime brokerage group at Newedge (Societe Generale).
