BI-SAM Inc has appointed Scott Okupski as North America Head of Client Services, responsible for product implementations, client relationships and local support.
Okupski’s appointment will reinforce BI-SAM’s North American management team, which has already been strengthened through a heavy recruitment drive. Growing from 5 to 15 employees, the US subsidiary has benefited from a large success in the market, and has seen client numbers doubled.

New York-based hedge fund consultant Atrato Advisors has added to its team, recently hiring Jinah Jang as an analyst.
Jang, a quantitative specialist, had previously worked as an analyst at fund-of-funds Argus Advisors and at Schafer Cullen Capital Management. Her appointment comes just as the hedge fund advisory firm, led by partners Brian Reich and Janna Sobolev, has completed its third year in business. Atrato has also promoted Mike Boensch to Director of Research.

Barclays Corporate has appointed Richard Garritt as Director, Funds and Asset Managers, within its Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFI) team, based in New York.
At Barclays, Garritt will be responsible for building the bank’s corporate banking relationships with existing North American clients and developing strong links with new clients within the funds and asset managers sector.
Garritt was previously a Director and Head of Fund Manager Relations at National Australia Bank in New York where he was responsible for delivering the business strategy for the funds sector. Prior to joining NAB, Garritt spent 11 years at Scotia Capital where he originated
The Board of Directors of National Futures Association (NFA) has elected Christopher K Hehmeyer, Non-Executive Chairman at Penson GHCO, to serve a one-year term as Chairman. The Board also elected Paul J Georgy, President of Allendale, Inc, to serve as Vice Chairman.

Bertrand C Fry has joined the Pryor Cashman as a partner in the firm’s Investment Management Group. With Jonathan T Shepard, Fry will co-head theGroup and lead a team addressing a full range of legal and regulatory issues that affect alternative investment fund advisers.

Veteran high yield and distressed portfolio managers Scott Martin and C J Lanktree are joining Solus Alternative Management’s investment team. Most recently, Martin and Lanktree served as Co-Heads of Deutsche Bank’s Distressed Products Group. Both will join Solus effective March 1 as portfolio managers, reporting to President and Chief Investment Officer, Christopher Pucillo (pictured).

James Bergstrom (pictured) has been appointed as Legal Chief Executive Officer of The Ogier Group, effective from February 2012.
Nick Kershaw, who previously held both the Group Chief Executive and the Legal Chief Executive roles, has handed over the Legal Chief Executive role to Bergstrom, but continues as the Group Chief Executive, having been elected for a second three year term. Kershaw will also be returning part time to a client facing role.

First Reserve Corporation has expanded its senior executive team with two new appointments. Claudi Santiago joins as a Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer and will be based in the firm’s London office, while Irene Mavroyannis joins as a Managing Director in its Investor Relations Group and will be based in the firm’s Greenwich office.

MarketAxess Holdings has appointed Robert Hammond as Head of Sales and Dealer Relationship Management for Europe and the Middle East.
Hammond will be responsible for driving sales across the region, to further build the firm’s growing institutional network of fixed income investors and dealers. He will oversee client and dealer relationships, and manage the continued delivery of efficient and robust e-trading solutions to the fixed income marketplace. Mr. Hammond will report to Paul Ellis, Head of MarketAxess Europe.

Ramius LLC, the global alternative investment management business of Cowen Group, has appointed Ken Griebell as a Director, reporting to David Thill, Managing Director and head of worldwide third party distribution and intermediary relationships.
In this newly created role, Griebell will expand Ramius’ marketing and distribution activities for liquid alternative products to new and existing customers and grow Ramius’ presence across distribution channels that focus on mass affluent retail investors.
