Qube Research & Technologies is expanding its US footprint with a new office at BMO Tower, leasing just over 29,000 square feet on the building’s 39th floor, according to a report by The Real Deal. The space will become the firm’s third US location, joining offices in New York and Houston.
The BMO Tower, a 52-storey, 1.5 million-square-foot property developed by a joint venture between Riverside Investment & Development and Convexity Properties, is now 84% leased following Qube’s deal. The building already hosts anchor tenant BMO, alongside prominent law firms including Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath, Chapman & Cutler, and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.
Qube’s move comes amid a broader bifurcation in Chicago’s office market: while overall vacancy remains high, “trophy” properties continue to see strong demand and command premium rents. The firm’s expansion adds to leasing momentum in the city’s top-tier segment, which has been more resilient than older, lower-quality office buildings affected by remote work trends.
Founded as a spinout from Credit Suisse in 2018, Qube employs more than 1,400 staff worldwide. The firm has not disclosed hiring plans in Chicago in connection with the new office.
