RMB Capital (RMB) has promoted portfolio manager Andrew Baker, CFA (pictured), to partner.

Baker joined RMB in 2008 as a senior analyst for the firm’s asset management team. Since then, he has been working as a generalist across asset classes and leading all investment manager due diligence efforts. He was named vice president in 2014 and became portfolio manager for RMB’s multi-strategy alternative portfolios in 2015. Baker is also a member of the firm’s investment committee.

“Andy has been instrumental in shaping our overall investment policy as a firm,” says Richard M Burridge, RMB Capital founding partner, CEO and chief investment officer. “His leadership in asset allocation, manager selection, and portfolio management has made the expansion of our investment platform possible. In many ways, he has been the face of our firm to our outside investment partners.”

Prior to joining RMB, Baker spent six years at Northern Trust as an associate on the institutional asset management team and as a senior investment relationship manager for trading and reconciliation.

Baker holds an MBA in finance, accounting and management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and Spanish from Washington University in St Louis. Baker is a Chartered Financial Analyst and active member of the CFA Society of Chicago.
