Saba Capital hires Millennium PM amid quant credit push

Related Topics

Boaz Weinstein’s Saba Capital Management is strengthening its bench with two senior appointments as the $6bn credit-focused hedge fund prepares to expand into systematic trading strategies, according to a report by Reuters.

The New York-based manager will welcome back Jeremy Benkiewicz, a Saba co-founder and veteran credit trader, who rejoins in February after five years as a Portfolio Manager at Millennium Management. He previously worked alongside Weinstein for nearly two decades at Deutsche Bank and Saba, specialising in credit, cross-asset relative value and convertible arbitrage.

Saba is also elevating Kieran Goodwin to Partner to spearhead the firm’s new push into quantitative credit trading. Goodwin, formerly a partner at King Street Capital, has been advising Saba and will now formalise his role as the firm gears up to launch Saba LT, a predominantly systematic strategy designed to exploit credit market dislocations.

The appointments add to a recent build-out of quant talent at the firm, which previously brought in traders Robert Rappleye and David Buckman from Jane Street, both now Saba LT Partners.
