Schonfeld Strategic Advisors has appointed Samuel Adams, a former Goldman Sachs Managing Director who specialised in synthetic products, as Lead Architect in London, according to a report by eFinancial Careers.
Adams spent 14 years at Goldman Sachs and was promoted to managing director in 2022, having begun his career at UBS after earning a PhD in mathematics from Imperial College London.
Adams is the latest hire from the banking sector to join Schonfeld in London, with Shuhuang Qi, who previously worked at Bank of America for five years, having joined as an emerging markets and delta one analyst, as well as former Nomura Macro Trading Executive Director Matt Rupsis, who joined the firm as an Associate Portfolio Manager in New York.
According to the Financial Times, Schonfeld has seen a strong performance in 2024, with its partners fund having recovered from a challenging end to 2023 by posting a 10.3% gain so far this year, nearly double the average hedge fund return.
