George Demain, Senior Portfolio Manager and Systematic Trader at Millennium Management, has left the firm just 20 months after joining the business, according to a report by Bloomberg citing people familiar with the matter.
Demain, who was based in Millennium’s London office, joined the multi-strategy hedge fund major in July 2022 from Shell, where he was Head of Systematic Trading, and according to his LinkedIn profile, was “primarily responsible for building out proprietary, cross commodity systematic energy trading in Shell Energy Europe, as well as delivering an automated execution platform to support algorithmic gas, power and emissions trading”.
Demain’s departure is the latest in a number of commodities-related moves at $60bn Millennium since Anthony Dewell was appointed to lead the asset class last year, including the recent hiring of Matthew Nguyen as Deputy Head of Commodities.
