Sliced Investing raises USD2m to simplify hedge fund investing for accredited investors

Sliced Investing, an investment platform connecting accredited investors to hedge fund investments, has closed seed financing of USD2 million to expand the platform and grow its user base.

Venture capital firms Khosla Ventures, Triple Point Ventures and Data Collective invested alongside technology incubator Y Combinator. Sliced Investing will use the seed round to develop new funds for investors and accelerate their growth.
Co-founders Michael Furlong and Akhil Lodha are applying their financial backgrounds from Citigroup and Motif Investing to help accredited investors, who have historically not had streamlined access to hedge funds, gain exposure to the asset class.
"Akhil and I realized that powerful investment tools were only going to a select few investors," says CEO Michael Furlong. "Sliced Investing is opening up the world of hedge funds to a broader segment of accredited investors in an intuitive way."
Using a web platform, investors who sign up for Sliced Investing are able to review and invest in hedge funds. Keith Rabois of Khosla Ventures is a leading investor in the financial technology space. "Sliced has created a unique way for investors to access an industry that has previously been inaccessible and opaque.  Sliced provides individual investors with the same investment products that have been utilised by institutional investors for years." With minimums as low as USD20,000, a broad range of accredited investors can invest through Sliced Investing's platform, which streamlines payments, tax, and ongoing communication associated with investing in hedge funds.
Sliced Investing has ambitious plans to launch several new funds across multiple strategies  and grow its existing user base. "We're excited to expand our product offerings and grow our accredited investor base," says Sliced Investing co-founder Akhil Lodha. "Sliced Investing uses data and automation to help drive smarter investment decisions. We have created a platform to invest in hedge funds that's intuitive and simple. It's never been done before."
