eVestment, a provider of institutional investment data and analytics, has launched the eVestment iPhone app.
The app pulls from eVestment’s SaaS-based Analytics platform and allows users to see and use high-level summaries, charts and graphs highlighting research, competitive analysis and due diligence across traditional long-only and hedge fund investment vehicles.
The app is available free in the Apple App Store for all users with an existing eVestment Analytics subscription.

Sonar for ships: Sonar technology is used by ships to map the ocean floor. First, sound signals are sent out, via a transmitter, in the direction of the ocean bed. Secondly, the signals reach the ocean bed and bounce off whatever object they touch. Finally, they reflect back to a receiver to transform the sound signals into an image of the ocean bed.
Underwater features closer to the ship take less time to reflect back to the receiver, as opposed to features further away from the ship. This time differential is used to map the valleys and mountains ranges
PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, registered a total volume of 166.6 TWh in March 2017, confirming the increasing trend on the futures segment and another strong month for the time spread instruments.
It represents a of 25 per cent increase compared to last year (133.1 TWh).

Fintech company Koger has deployed its flagship NTAS platform for fund administration and compliance in the cloud.
NTAS is a share registry system that manages fund tracking, reporting and fee calculation.
More than 8,000 funds with USD2 trillion in assets are administered through NTAS, which is used by many of the largest funds, fund administrators and financial institutions.
The NTAS platform and its complementary product suite support all types of investment funds, including hedge funds, private equity, mutual funds, money market funds and pension funds.

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) reached a volume of 311.2 TWh on its power derivatives markets in March, representing a year-on-year increase of 22 per cent (March 2016: 255.8 TWh).
In particular, power products for the German-Austrian market contributed to this result. At 250.5 TWh, volumes in this market increased by 42 per cent (March 2016: 176.6 TWh). This includes 225.9 TWh from Phelix Futures and 24.6 TWh from Phelix Options.
The March volumes comprised also 158.7 TWh registered at EEX for clearing. Clearing and settlement of all transactions was executed by European Commodity Clearing (ECC).

The Derivatives Service Bureau has opened the DSB User Acceptance Testing (UAT) platform to the industry with a revised and updated set of product templates that are consistent with MiFID II requirements.
The UAT platform is a functionally complete system that will provide near real-time allocation of International Securities Identification Numbers (ISINs) for OTC derivatives as well as generate additional attributes that are mandated by MiFID II, such as the Classification of Financial Instruments (CFI) and Financial Instrument Short Name (FISN) ISO standard values.

The European Power Exchange EPEX SPOT and the clearing house European Commodity Clearing (ECC) have introduced 30-minute continuous trading of power spot contracts in the intraday markets in France, Germany and Switzerland.
Some 450.45 MWh have been traded during the first 24 hours, with 118.65 MWh in France, 328.20 MWh in Germany and 3.6 MWh in Switzerland.
Cross-border trades accounted for 48 per cent of the total traded volume.

The Exchange Council of the European Energy Exchange (EEX) has discussed the extension of EEX’s power derivatives product range with contracts currently listed on Power Exchange Central Europe (PXE).
At a meeting chaired by Michael Redanz, managing director of EWE Trading, the Exchange Council also approved the re-appointment of Steffen Köhler (pictured) and Tobias Paulun to the exchange management board of EEX, in addition to confirming new appointments to the sanction committee of EEX.
