The Warsaw Stock Exchange has launched GBP futures on the main market of the exchange (GPW).
“The decision to introduce GBP futures is yet another step in making GPW’s offer more attractive to investors. Both currency futures and single-stock futures enjoy strong interest of active market participants,” says MaÅ‚gorzata Zaleska (pictured), president of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
The addition of GBP futures to the exchange’s instrument list is part of GPW’s policy to expand its offer for investors. Along with USD/PLN, EUR/PLN and CHF/PLN, GBP/PLN is the fourth currency pair futures contract available for trade.

The pan-European gas trading platform PEGAS, operated by Powernext, has published a new position paper regarding the potential merger of the NCG, Gaspool and TTF gas market areas in the near future.
Within the paper, PEGAS outlines the potential cost of such a merger while also assessing the limited benefit to end consumers.
The position paper follows a study initiated by the German Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) into the functioning of the two German Market Areas NCG and Gaspool. BNetzA were supported by independent consultants WECOM who analysed the performance of the market.

AcadiaSoft, a provider of margin automation solutions for counterparties engaged in collateral exchange worldwide, has acquired ProtoColl, an end-to-end collateral and margin management service, from the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC).
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
In March, thousands of buy-side firms and smaller banks will become subject to new variation margin (VM) rules for non-cleared OTC derivatives that went into effect on 1 September for the largest global banks, all 24 of which are using the AcadiaSoft Hub in order to comply.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has added trade repository services for Newfoundland and Labrador Global Trade Repository (GTR).
With this addition, GTR now supports all Canadian provinces and territories, with existing support for Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Prince Edward Island and Yukon.
In an effort to achieve improved risk analysis, all Canadian provinces and territories have adopted harmonised derivatives reporting regulations, as applicable, rules 91-507 and MI 96-101. These rules require reporting for over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives transactions, including rate, credit, equity, FX and commodity derivatives.

Guernsey has introduced a Private Investment Fund (PIF) regime designed to provide fund managers with greater flexibility and simplicity.
The PIF, which was developed in response to market demand by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) in consultation with the island’s GBP247 billion funds industry, recognises that certain investment funds are characterised by a relationship between management and investors that is closer than that of a typical agent.
The PIF dispenses with the formal requirement for information particulars such as a prospectus in recognition of that relationship, significantly reducing the cost and processing time of launching of a fund.
