The Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) has launched three new derivative contracts – a Taiwan Dollar (TWD)-denominated Nifty 50 Futures contract, and two FX futures contracts: EUR/USD FX Futures and USD/JPY FX Futures. The Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) and ACI Polska (the Polish Financial Markets Association) have signed an agreement whereby GPW will take over as the fixing organiser of the WIBID and WIBOR reference rates. GPW becomes both the reference rate fixing organiser and the calculation agent.   The agreement will enter into force upon its approval by the WIBOR board and after the acceptance of the amendment to the Rules for Fixing WIBID and WIBOR Reference Rates by banks (fixing participants).   GPW decided to take over as reference rate fixing organiser following a proposal issued by ACI Polska.   ACI
Intercontinental Exchange’s ICE Futures Europe Low Sulphur Gasoil contract achieved a daily volume record of 766,054 contracts on 1 November 2016. Volume in ICE Low Sulphur Gasoil-related contracts, such as the ICE Low Sulphur Gasoil/Brent Futures Crack and the ICE Heating Oil/Low Sulphur Gasoil Futures Spread also achieved daily records of 57,890 contracts and 10,164 contracts, respectively.   The strong growth in ICE Low Sulphur Gasoil futures volume is driven by rising hedging demand from European refineries to meet winter diesel specifications and increasing hedging activity in cross-Atlantic diesel arbitrage flows.   The ICE Low Sulphur Gasoil futures contract is
PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, registered a total volume of 131.2 TWh in October 2016, an increase of 21 per cent compared to the previous year (108.8 TWh). The strong result also included new records on the spot (PEGs) and futures segments (GASPOOL, PSV, ZEE and ZTP).   Spot trading volumes in October reached 52.1 TWh, representing an increase of 28 per cent compared to last year (40.7 TWh) while the Dutch market area TTF registered a strong volume with 13.9 TWh, up 23 per cent compared to October 2015 (11.3 TWh).   A total volume of
Euronext has agreed a 10-year partnership with fixed income technology provider Algomi to create a new trading facility aimed at improving liquidity in the pan-European corporate bond market. The joint venture, capitalised by Euronext for USD2.3 million, will deploy Algomi’s technology to a new MTF owned and operated by Euronext.   Dealers will be able to access the trading interface either directly through their existing Algomi technology or through their stand-alone systems.   The platform will use algorithmic smart matching processes to create an auction between dealers to improve liquidity and search for best execution.   Local and global bond

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) has registered its first trade in EUA Futures beyond 2020, thereby extending into the fourth trading period of the EU ETS. The transaction was registered on 28 October in the December 2021 maturity, with a volume of 50,000 tonnes of CO2 traded at a price of EUR 6.02 per EUA.
