Stroock has added experienced investment funds attorney Eric Requenez as partner in its Private Funds Group in New York.
Requenez (pictured), brings a broad-based practice, representing fund sponsors, investment advisers, investment banks and other financial institutions in connection with the structuring and distribution of public and private investment funds, proprietary products and securities offerings. He also regularly counsels investment funds and investment advisers on transactional, regulatory and compliance issues related to the Investment Advisers Act, the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Securities Act and the Securities Exchange Act, including in connection with mergers and acquisitions. Requenez joins from Morrison & Foerster, LLP. Previously, he practiced for seven years in the Investment Management Group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
“Eric is our eighth lateral addition so far this year and he joins new partners and counsel in a number of important groups, including financial restructuring, real estate, corporate, private wealth and tax,” says Jeff Keitelman, Stroock’s co-managing partner. “And we expect to see more additions in the months ahead. We’ve created an environment where top-flight lawyers like Eric, in the prime of their careers, can flourish and grow their practices.”
Requenez’s client list includes sponsors of private equity funds, hedge funds, hybrid funds, fund-of-funds, real estate funds, energy and infrastructure funds and venture capital funds.
“I’ve long known Stroock as a brand-name law firm in the private funds space. It has a well-established practice and an exceptional client base, all of which make it a great fit for the next chapter of my career,” says Requenez. “I’m excited to join a recognised team of trusted attorneys, including my former Morrison & Foerster colleague Michelle Jewett, and to help further grow a platform to support the complex transactions and multifaceted needs of my clients.”
Requenez received his JD from Columbia Law School and his BA from Columbia University.
