Structured finance attorney Mulligan joins Kleinberg Kaplan

Kleinberg, Kaplan, Wolff & Cohen has appointed Howard Mulligan as Of Counsel in the Corporate Department. Mulligan is an experienced corporate and securities attorney who practices in the areas of structured finance and business restructurings.

Mulligan previously practiced in the New York offices of law firms McDermott Will & Emery, Dewey Ballantine LLP, and Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP.
 
Mulligan brings 17 years of experience in the areas of structured finance, securitisation, derivatives and mergers and acquisitions involving structured products, workouts and restructurings, and entertainment law. At Kleinberg Kaplan, Mulligan will work collaboratively with attorneys across the firm’s hedge fund, bankruptcy, and real estate practices to provide counsel on structured finance and restructuring matters to private investment funds, financial institutions and privately held companies.

On the structured finance side, Mulligan has represented sponsors, issuers and underwriters, including first-time originators of new assets, on a wide range of issuances of structured and synthetic products. His transactional work has included derivatives, structured products, M&A transactions involving servicers and originators, and the purchase and sale of varied structured portfolios. Mulligan is well-known for his expertise in this area and has testified before the House Financial Services Committee on structured products sales in the secondary market in the midst of the subprime crisis in May 2007.
 
Within the field of business restructuring, Mulligan has represented borrowers, lenders, creditors, debtors and creditors’ committees on matters involving the corporate aspects of bankruptcy, workouts and insolvency matters. He has also been involved in numerous workouts and restructurings of debt and derivative transactions, and several reorganisations of securitisation trusts.
