Third Hedgeweek awards celebrate triumph over adversity

Related Topics

The third edition of the Hedgeweek Awards, presented today in London’s Mayfair, take place against a backdrop of last year’s tough climate for hedge fund managers and their service providers in which the industry had to call upon all its ability and expertise to make headway and retain the trust of investors – which in general it did.

Already indications are that 2012 could be a significantly better year for the hedge fund industry, in terms of both performance and fundraising, as it successfully copes with challenges such as investor demands for greater transparency, tighter regulation in many parts of the world, and an ever-growing compliance and reporting burden.

As in previous years, the awards were determined by the votes of Hedgeweek’s 41,000 subscribers, who include individual and institutional investors as well as fund managers and other industry professionals at firms including fund administrators, prime brokers, custodians, law firms, consultants and advisers.

The 2012 Hedgeweek Awards honour the resilience of the industry as it copes with a succession of financial and economic upheavals that began nearly five years ago, and that have ultimately contributed to its manifestly increased maturity and professionalism.
