The Hedge Fund Association (HFA) has appointed Juan Garrido and Les Baquiran as co-directors of the association’s LatAm chapter following the decision by Victor Hugo Rodriguez to step down from the role.
Garrido is global head of investment solutions at BBVA Global Private Bank in New York. Alternative asset manager Aquila Capital has appointed Dorothee Goerz as senior fund manager. Goerz will be based at Aquila Capital’s office in London.
She will be responsible for overseeing the launch of a new Aquila Capital value and event-driven long/short equity strategy in the autumn of this year, for which she will act as the lead fund manager.

The Credit Suisse Liquid Alternative Beta Index was up 1.67 per cent in July, according to Dr Jordan Drachman, head of alternative beta strategies at Credit Suisse.
The long/short equity strategy was the strongest performer for the month, finishing up 3.61 per cent in July.
The Managed Futures Liquid Index was the only strategy in negative territory for the month with a return of -1.20 per cent.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has adopted rules designed to substantially increase protections for investors who turn their money and securities over to broker-dealers registered with the SEC.
The new rules, approved by a 3-2 Commission vote, require broker-dealers to file new reports with the Commission that should result in higher levels of compliance with the SEC’s financial responsibility rules.

CBOE Holdings has reported second quarter 2013 net income allocated to common stockholders of USD45.5m, or USD0.52 per diluted share, compared with USD37.9m, or USD0.44 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2012.
On an adjusted basis, net income allocated to common stockholders was USD47.0m, or USD0.54 per share, compared with USD37.9m, or USD0.44 per diluted share, in the same period last year.
Operating revenues of USD150.8m for the second quarter increased 14 per cent compared with USD132.6m in the second quarter of 2012.
