AllianceBernstein (AB), a research and global investment management firm, has added a new and distinctive AI-powered investing approach to its Multi-Asset Solutions team. Dr François Oustry and Sahar Attaripour, co-founders of Suzugia, have joined AllianceBernstein. Their multi-asset systematic macro alternative strategy uses the power of natural language processing (NLP) and artificial intelligence, going beyond traditional data sources to uncover thematic investment opportunities. This distinctive capability furthers AB’s goal of delivering differentiated return streams to clients. Both Oustry and Attaripour will join AB’s Multi-Asset Solutions team and will be based in AB’s London office.
Hedge fund founder and former Simpson Thacher & Bartlett attorney, Daniel Kamensky, has had a six-month retroactively applied law license suspension confirmed by a New York appellate court, according to a report by Reuters. The suspension for the founder of the now defunct Marble Ridge Capital hedge fund comes after he pleaded guilty to bankruptcy fraud last year and was sentenced to a six-month jail term, six months of home confinement as well as a $55,000 fine.  
The Scotiabank Canadian Hedge Fund Index ended March 2022, down -0.06% MOM on an asset-weighted basis and up 0.66% MOM on an equal-weighted basis. Xceptor, a no-code software platform for data automation in the financial sector, has appointed Pete Daffern as Non-Executive Company Chair. Daffern brings over 30 years’ experience within the technology sector, having successfully grown numerous software businesses, including the creation of three companies which achieved market capitalisations of over $10 billion.   Daffern was most recently CEO at Foresee, and prior to that President of Netsuite. London-headquartered information services company, Dialectica, has launched a B2B Surveys service to enhance its comprehensive portfolio of bespoke insights services. Spectrum Markets, a pan-European trading venue for securitised derivatives, has widened its product offering to include cryptocurrencies as an underlying, with turbo warrants on bitcoin and ether now available. The new products expand Spectrum’s existing suite of Turbo24s and allow brokers to offer their clients long or short leveraged exposure to the price of the two most popular cryptocurrencies.  
BennBridge has appointed Robert McKillop as chief executive officer for UK and Europe, effective 4 May. McKillop has almost 30 years of experience in asset management leadership across investment, distribution and product functions, spanning geographic regions and client channels. He has a diverse skillset and a proven history of building high performance teams, driving business growth and client-focused innovation. Based in London, McKillop will report to the global CEO of the BFM Group, Craig Bingham. The BFM Group operates as BennBridge in the UK and US, and Bennelong Funds Management in Australia.  
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has allocated 20 additional positions to the unit responsible for protecting investors in crypto markets and from cyber-related threats. The newly renamed Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit (formerly known as the Cyber Unit) in the Division of Enforcement will grow to 50 dedicated positions. Since its creation in 2017, the unit has brought more than 80 enforcement actions related to fraudulent and unregistered crypto asset offerings and platforms, resulting in monetary relief totalling more than $2 billion.
