Fasanara Capital has made two significant additions to thitse team to strengthen deal origination and support the launch of its new Fintech-focused Venture Capital Fund. The first addition is Raj Dutta, who has been appointed as Chief Commercial Officer.  Dutta joins Fasanara having spent the majority of the last twenty years in various head of marketing and investor relations roles at institutional hedge funds and fund of hedge funds. The Oxfordshire Pension Fund Committee has been recommended to approve cutting its multi-asset (DGF) target allocation of 5 per cent to 0 per cent. The Board has also been recommended to increase its allocations to private equity from 9 per cent to 10 per cent, infrastructure from 3.0 per cent to 5.0 per cent, and private debt from 3.0 per cent to 5.0 per cent. The GBP3.2 billion fund’s total allocation to alternatives would remain at 33 per cent of fund investments as a result of these changes.

Significant losses sustained in recent weeks have prompted Mew York hedge fund Arrant Global to close down operations, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The firm’s flagship long-short tech-focused equity strategy, which lost 8.5 per cent last year, has dropped by double digits so far in 2022, in line with the 12 per cent loss chalked up by the Nasdaq Composite over the same period.
Eisler Capital, a hedge fund firm run by former Goldman Sachs executive Ed Eisler, has returned all investment cash linked to Russia, following the country’s invasion of neighbouring Ukraine, according to a report by Bloomberg. An internal memo seen by Bloomberg reveals that all Russia-linked capital affected by sanctions imposed by the US, the EU and the UK has now been redeemed. Eisler Capital, which managed around USD4.3 billion at the start of 2022, was formed in 2015 by Eisler using a combination of his own funds and UD100 million from LetterOne Holdings, an entity linked to Russian oligarch Mikhail
iCapital, a global fintech platform driving access and efficiency in alternative investing for the asset and wealth management industries, is to acquire and Stifel Financial Corp’s alternative investment feeder fund platform. Stifel’s feeder fund platform supports distribution of a suite of unique hedge fund strategies. Upon closing, iCapital’s white label technology will be leveraged to streamline and automate the onboarding, subscription processing and lifecycle operations for Stifel feeder funds, while providing support to Stifel’s advisors and their high-net-worth investors.  Stifel will continue to source alternative investments for its clients and provide them with guidance on the role of alternative investments
Polkadot was the most popular alt coin with venture capital and hedge funds in the final quarter of 2021, according to a report by Forkast. Twenty four of 57 funds investing in the space held Polkadot – the 11th latest cryptocurrency in the world with a market cap of USD18.7 billion – in Q4 2021. Oasis Network (ROSE) and Near Protocol (NEAR) were the next most popular assets among VCs and hedge funds, according to analysis by Messari says the report.
Horizon Software, a specialist in market making and algo trading technology, has appointed Fabrice Astrologi as Global Head of Client Management.  With extensive experience in streamlining processes and optimising operations, Fabrice Astrologi will be responsible for continuing to drive global revenue growth.   In his new global role, Astrologi will take charge across regional teams to enhance the company’s strong commitment to its customer base, overseeing customer and vendor relations, as well as the company’s support offerings.  
Avi Felman has been appointed as a general partner of GoldenChain, a new wholly owned subsidiary of GoldenTree Asset Management which will manage the firm’s digital assets funds, accoding to a report by AlternativesWatch. Felman, who reports to partner and executive committee member Joe Naggar, will also be a principal at the USD47 billion firm. Proper to joining GoldenChain, Felman was co-portfolio manager and head of trading for BlockTower Capital, which manages capital for leading LPs including Union Square Ventures, Marc Lasry the founder of Avenue Capital, and Howard Morgan the co-founder of Renaissance Technologies and First Round Capital.
