Brazilian hedge fund manager SPX Capital has appointed William Bethlem, a former trader with Goldman Sachs Group, to head up its new Singapore office as part of the firm’s push into Asia, according to a report by Bloomberg. The report cites SPX Capital co-founder Bruno Pandolfi as confirming that Bethlem, who joined SPX last year, will lead the new office which is due to open in February. An exact headcount of for the new offices initial team of Asia-focused researchers and traders has yet to be confirmed. Equity researchers employed by hedge funds firms are earning around $100k per year more than equivalent employees in the investment banking industry, according to a report by eFinancialCareers.   The report cites the 2022 equities compensation report from recruitment consultancy Dartmouth Partners as revealing that there is a star differential between the compensation packages paid to research staff at investment banks and their hedge fund counrterparts. Pictet Asset Management (Pictet AM) continues to strengthen its Fixed Income offering with the recruitment of four private debt specialists. The new Private Debt team is headed by Andreas Klein in London, who joined Pictet AM in early 2022. 
Private funds partner Ajay Pathak has been appointed as the next London co-chair at law firm Goodwin Procter, according to a report by Law.com. The appointment comes as the firm is seeking larger premises to accommodate its expansion in the UK capital. Stefano Cocirio, an associate portfolio manager at Elliott Advisors is to quit the US activist hedge fund to take up the role of chief financial officer at Italian Serie A football club AC Milan, according to a report by Il Sole 24 Ore.

Eric Lonergan, a macro hedge fund manager at M&G where he has been running over $5 million in assets, is to quit the firm on 1 December after 16 years with the firm, according to a report by Funds Europe. The report cites a LinkedIn post by Lonergan as revealing that he would quit M&G by the end of the year, but the firm later announced he would be giving up his role at the start of next month.
