Sam Trabucco, the co-CEO of Alameda Research, a crypto hedge fund set-up by Sam Bankman-Fried in 2017 before he went on to found crypto exchange FTX, is stepping down after just a year in the role, according to a report by Fortune. Trabucco tweeted this week that he had found other things “more worthwhile to do with my time than give it to Alameda”. Alameda is a quant fund that trades thousands of different digital asset products, including crypto coins and their derivatives, with an average volume of roughly $5 billion every day. Eliades joins a predominately technical and crypto-native leadership team. With over two decades of finance experience, including leading Wells Fargo’s Electronic Sales and Coverage and Head of Americas Trading for JP Morgan. Ryan Israel has been appointed as the new chief investment officer at Pershing Square Holdings, the hedge fund run by billionaire investor Bill Ackman, according to a report by Reuters. Israel has been with the firm for 13 years having joined from Goldman Sachs back in 2009. Ackman, who earlier this year indicated that he would be taking a less vocal “quieter approach” to agitating for change at Pershing Square’s portfolio companies, opting instead to work with management, will continue in his role as chief executive officer and portfolio manager and will retain ultimate control over investment decision making. 
Genesis Global Trading is laying off 20% of its 260-strong workforce weeks after it emerged that the cryptocurrency lender and brokerage firm has a claim of $1.2 billion against now-bankrupt hedge fund Three Arrows Capital (3AC). Recent court filings revealed that Genesis lent $2.4 billion to 3AC to the now-bankrupt crypto hedge fund Three Arrows Capital which put down 50% collateral on the loan. After liquidating the collateral, Genesis’ parent company Digital Currency Group (DCG) remains 3AC’s biggest creditor.
