Mala Gaonkar, a former managing director at Lone Pine Capital has recruited staff from rivals Third Point and Maverick Capital for her forthcoming hedge fund launch, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Hashdex, a global crypto-focused asset manager, has hired Benjamin Ittah as European senior sales and distribution manager.
In this newly created role, Ittah will be responsible for Hashdex’ sales development in Europe, focusing on both growing the firm’s expanding client base and overseeing the distribution of the firm’s investment products, such as the recently launched Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index Europe exchange trade product (SIX: HASH SW). He will report to Laurent Kssis, Managing Director and Head of Europe at Hashdex.
Prior to joining Hashdex, Ittah led the development of Tabula Investment Management’s presence across France, Benelux and Geneva.
Alternative credit specialist CIFC Asset Management (CIFC) has appointed Conor Daly, former managing director, head of European credit at Onex credit, as head of European credit.
Jensen Investment Management, a 100% employee-owned high-conviction equity investment management firm, has appointed Shannon Contreras to Jensen Investment Management’s Board of Directors.
Contreras joined Jensen in 2014 and has been the firm’s director of finance and senior compliance officer. She also serves as treasurer of the Jensen Quality Growth Fund.
Contreras holds a BS in business from University of California, Riverside, and a post-baccalaureate certificate in accounting from Portland State University.
Crypto hedge fund BKCoin Capital (BKCoin) has made three senior appointments: Paul Magahis, as president, Adriano Caloiaro, as chief technology officer, and Leanna Haakons, as director of business development & investor relations.
The appointments come as BKCoin’s founding principals, Carlos Betancourt and Kevin Kang, continue to scale BKCoin following strong institutional demand for quantitative crypto investment solutions.
Magahis will oversee BKCoin’s corporate strategy, development, and operations, and will be a key member of the investment committee.

Ocorian, a specialist in corporate and fiduciary services, fund administration and capital markets, has appointed Don Ross as global head, investor services as it continues the transformation of its technology-led fund services business.
Acadia, a provider of integrated risk management services for the derivatives community, has appointed Stuart Smith and William (Will) Thomey as co-heads of business development.
In these newly created roles, Smith will oversee business development for Acadia’s risk and data products, while Thomey will assume equivalent responsibility in the areas of workflow and agreement management.
Both positions report to Fred Dassori, Acadia’s chief product officer.
Torstone Technology, a global SaaS platform for post-trade securities and derivatives processing and risk management, has appointed Yasuaki Hayashi as Senior Japan Representative.
Hayashi-san brings over thirty years of experience in the brokerage and investment banking industry, with significant expertise in establishing and growing businesses in Japan. He joins Torstone from Interactive Brokers, where he was Head of Japan, and helped to set-up the firm’s Japanese business in 2008. Prior to that, Hayashi-san was Operations Director at Liquidnet, where he set up the firm’s Japanese business.
JonesTrading Institutional Services (JonesTrading) has appointed industry veterans Jorge Hendrickson and Mark McGoldrick as managing directors, and co-heads of JonesTrading Prime Services.
Each brings over two decades of experience in the space.
JonesTrading has been increasing their presence in Prime Services over the past several years and now has in place the sales management to offer a robust hybrid of high touch coverage and technology for better execution, reporting and service. Hendrickson and McGoldrick will further increase our presence and will drive growth. They will also be responsible for cross selling the full suite of Jones services.

Value Partners Group Limited has promoted Kelly Chung to investment director, head of multi-assets, effective 1 June 2022.
In her new role, Chung will continue to report to the Group’s co-chairmen and co-chief investment officers Dato’ Seri Cheah Cheng Hye and Louis So.
Chung joined Value Partners in April 2016 as Senior Fund Manager and was able to build the multi-asset franchise with an outperformance track record against peers. She has been playing a key role in investment allocation and the portfolio construction process of the Group’s multi-asset portfolios, leading the development of the Group’s asset allocation platform.
