Brandywine Global Investment Management has named Tariq Ahmad as the chief executive officer of Brandywine Global Investment Management (Asia). Derek Taylor and Fergus Allan have both been appointed as managing directors in the firm’s London consulting team.   With over 20 years’ experience in banking and capital markets, Taylor is a risk management and compliance and regulatory change specialist. The board of directors of SIX has selected Sabir Sheikh to head up issuer regulation and Jared Bibler to be in charge of trading supervision at SIX Exchange Regulation. The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) has approved the selection. Independent hedge fund administration specialist Custom House Global Fund Services has opened an office in Beijing to accommodate the need for experienced fund administrators with a local presence. Independent trust, fund and corporate services provider Crestbridge has established a presence in the GCC following its acquisition of Ohad Trust, a Bahrain-based trust, fund and corporate services provider in Manama. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has appointed its new Skilled Person Panel, effective until 2021. The panel is a supervisory tool, used by the financial watchdog to carry out independent reports, known as a s166 review, where there are specific concerns about a regulated firm’s activities.   The reviews have been used to tackle heavyweight cases including closer examinations of restructuring deals and alleged money laundering.                       Firms issued with a s166 Requirement Notice need to select one of the appointed providers from the panel to carry out the Skilled Persons review.
