Colin W McLean, FSIP, has been elected the new Vice Chair of the Board of Governors of CFA Institute, the global association of investment management professionals.  Effective 1 September, McLean succeeds Frederic P Lebel, CFA, who becomes the newly elected Chair of the Board. The new board line-up was elected by the membership at the 69th CFA Institute Annual Conference, held in Montreal earlier this month. Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) CIO and Head of Infrastructure Debthas appointed Deborah Zurkow (pictured) is to take on a new, broader role, becoming head of the Alternatives pillar within the firm’s global investment platform.  Zurkow will join AllianzGI’s Global Executive Committee, effective 1 June 2016. As Head of Alternatives, Zurkow will lead the continued build out of AllianzGI’s Alternatives capability, which comprises a diverse mix of both liquid and illiquid alternative investment solutions for clients. Lindsay Chamings has joined Andersen Tax as a Managing Director in the Alternative Investment Funds Practice in the firm’s San Francisco office.  Prior to joining Andersen Tax, Chamings was a Managing Director at KPMG (through KPMG's acquisition of Rothstein Kass in 2014). The Hedge Fund Standards Board (HFSB) has appointed Clint Carlson (pictured), Founder of Carlson Capital, an USD8 billion alternative asset management firm based in Texas, to its Board.  The HFSB is the global standard-setting body for the hedge fund industry and custodian of the Hedge Fund Standards.   The addition of Carlson to the HFSB board reflects recent growth in the number of US managers supporting the Hedge Fund Standards. Investment advisory and placement firm for hedge and private equity funds Aqueduct Capital Group, has appointed Dr Pawan Chaturvedi as head of investments. Chaturvedi joins Aqueduct from the UCLA Investment Company, where he was a senior investment director focused on all aspects of portfolio management and the private markets portfolio. Prior to UCLA, he was a partner at private markets advisor Altius Associates and a member of their executive management committee. NFA President and CEO Daniel Roth has announced his plan to retire in the coming year. NFA's Board of Directors has authorised the formation of a committee to conduct a search for his successor. The search will consider both internal and external candidates. BlackRock has named Mark Wiseman as incoming Senior Managing Director and a member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee (GEC).  Wiseman will become Head of BlackRock’s Global Active Equity business and will become Chairman of the BlackRock Global Investment Committee, the investment sub-committee of the GEC. He will also help support BlackRock Alternative Investors. Wiseman will report to Robert S Kapito, President of BlackRock, and will join the firm in early September. SYZ Asset Management, the institutional asset management division of the SYZ Group, has appointed Cédric Vuignier (pictured) as Head of Manager Research & Alternative Investments, and Bertrand Dord, as senior analyst.  Vuignier will take up his position on 1 June 2016, replacing Michaël Malquarti, who is taking his career in a new direction.
