MIK Fund Solutions, a provider of decision support software solutions for alternative asset managers, has expanded its geographic footprint into Asia, basing its APAC headquarters in Shanghai, China.
This is the latest in a series of strategic initiatives by MIK. The new office serves as a core piece of the foundation for the implementation of MIK’s 24 x7 global delivery model for software development and client support. MIK has resourced the expansion with a staff of 9.

Pershing Square Capital Management has appointed Stephen Fraidin, as a Senior Partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, has joined the firm as Vice Chairman.
Fraidin, a highly regarded mergers and acquisition advisor, has served on Pershing Square’s Board of Advisors since its inception in 2004.

Amundi has appointed Jeannine Daniel as Head of Equity Strategies, Senior Analyst at Amundi Alternative Investments, based in its London office.
Using her wide experience in the alternative investment space and more particularly in Hedge Fund manager selection, Jeannine, with the support of her team, will be responsible for sourcing, selecting and monitoring the best Hedge Fund managers for Event Driven and other Equity strategies, for the needs and benefits of Amundi Alternative Investments’ multi-manager solutions and Irish Managed Account Platform. She reports to François-Regis Bocqueraz, Global Head of Hedge Fund Manager Relations and Selection.

Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) has appointed Théodore Economou as Chief Investment Officer of LOIM’s multi-asset business, effective 1 February 2015.
The unit, which managed USD5.2 billion at the end of December, also includes a fiduciary management division.
Economou most recently served as CEO and Chief Investment Officer of the CERN Pension Fund, where over five years he initiated a risk-based approach that came to be known as the CERN Model. The multi-asset, factor-driven model aims to preserve capital while maximising returns relative to risk.

Mazzola, formerly a Senior Strategist for TD Ameritrade, has over sixteen years of investment management experience including portfolio management, risk analysis and dynamic hedging techniques.
Shelton Capital Management manages several Separately Managed Account (SMA) strategies that seek risk reduction or enhanced income using option strategies. Options, a managed services provider to the global capital markets industry, has appointed former KPMG Director, Brian McKimm as the firm’s new chief financial officer 9CFO).
In his new role, McKimm will be responsible for overseeing the development of Options’ global finance function across Europe, the US and Asia, with a particular focus on investor relations and strategic finance projects. He will also be tasked with ensuring the firm has the necessary financial management capabilities to support Options’ continued growth plans.

Robert Christensen, chairman of Jersey Finance, has been awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for services to charity in the New Year Honours List.
Among his charity work and contributions to the community, Christensen has been Chairman of Cancer Research UK’s Jersey Committee since 1991 during which time he has led efforts that has helped to raise several million pounds for the charity.

The London Metal Exchange (LME) has appointed John Lee as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Lee has 22 years of technology experience within financial exchanges, along with extensive leadership and systems delivery expertise. He joins from ICE/ NYSE Euronext, where he most recently led the technology delivery for a new clearing house for LIFFE. Following ICE’s acquisition of NYSE Euronext, John’s responsibility switched to the integration of the LIFFE market with ICE Clear Europe, which was successfully launched in July 2013.

Larry Keele, head of the Oaktree Capital’s US Convertibles strategy, has decided to retire from the firm effective 30 June, 2015 to pursue his personal interests full-time.
Effective immediately, Stu Spangler, Managing Director, who has been a member of Oaktree’s Convertibles team since 1997 and backup portfolio manager since 2011, will serve as co-portfolio manager of the US Convertibles strategy alongside Keele through June 30 to ensure a smooth transition, assuming full portfolio manager duties thereafter. Keele will remain a member of Oaktree’s Board of Directors.
