GoldenTree Asset Management, an investment firm that manages alternative and traditional asset strategies for sophisticated institutional and high net-worth investors, has hired Brian Marshall as managing director in the firm’s business development group.
Marshall is based at GoldenTree’s New York City headquarters and reports to Thomas Humphrey, partner and head of business development.

Alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group has named Matthew J O’Connor as a managing director on the power investing team.
O’Connor joins Bob Mancini as co-head of the team, which is investing a managed account in conjunction with the Cogentrix Energy power group brought over from Goldman Sachs last year.
He joins the firm in September and will work out of Carlyle’s Washington, DC, and New York offices.
O’Connor comes to Carlyle from GE where he held a variety of positions over the last 14 years, including nearly seven years in leadership roles with GE Energy Financial
BUMP Network has appointed hedge fund manager Gregg Parise as its new president and chief financial officer.
In his dual roles, Parise (pictured) will continue to build value in the company and manage its team and operations.
Parise will report directly to Mitch Thrower, the chief executive and chairman of BUMP Network.
Parise has 20 years of portfolio management and financial market experience. He has spent the last 12 years as the founder and portfolio manager of various long/short equity hedge funds, including LINC Asset Management, Calimar Capital and Dorado Capital Management.

Clarke is based at GoldenTree’s New York City headquarters and will report to Thomas Humphrey, partner and head of business development.
Prior to joining GoldenTree, Clarke was a senior vice president in business development for Paulson and Co., where he was responsible for covering large institutional investors including public and corporate pensions, and foundations and endowments in the US, Canada and Australia.

The Conifer Group, a provider of fund administration, middle office, trading and prime brokerage services to the hedge fund industry, has made several new hires in the firm’s New York office.
Drew Burggraf has joined as vice president and team leader for the New York prime brokerage team while Jarod Riley is the new vice president and Kyle Vedder the client services representative for Conifer’s middle- and back-office (MBO) services business. Pamela Fong has also joined as a shareholder services professional on the fund administration team in New York.

Meridian Fund Services Group has appointed Fergus Healy as chief executive, effective 15 August 2013.
Healy was most recently at JP Morgan Chase in New York as an executive director of the alternative markets group.
Healy has enjoyed a distinguished career in the hedge fund and private equity industries, which he commenced in 1996 at the global fund services division of the Bank of Bermuda (now HSBC) as a legal counsel. Healy later moved into a business development role at the Bank, first in Bermuda and then in New York. Healy eventually moved back to his native Ireland
Prosiris Capital Management, a credit-oriented investment manager with over USD1bn in assets under management, has appointed Aashish Marfatia to the firm’s investment team.
Marfatia will be responsible for non-agency residential mortgage trading and related investments.
Prior to joining Prosiris, Marfatia was a vice president at Tilden Park and Credit Suisse. With over 10 years of experience in the mortgage and securitised product space across research and trading, Marfatia will complement Prosiris’s fundamental investment approach.

Three Bridges Capital has appointed Ranjit Unnithan and Marc S Cooperman as senior analysts.
Unnithan focuses on European industrials and Cooperman focuses on the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sectors.
Both will report to managing partner Gene Salamon, who is the portfolio manager for the Three Bridges Europe Funds.
Before joining Three Bridges, Unnithan was a senior equity research analyst at JPMorgan based in London and was head of JPMorgan’s European automotive tquity team. Earlier he was a member of automotive equity research team based in New York and began his investment career at Rodman & Renshaw

Hastings has worked in the investments industry for over 25 years, focusing on computerised trading and e-commerce since 2001. He has extensive business development and consultancy experience having worked with Shell International, Henderson Fund Managers, Citigroup, State Street, Flextrade and more recently a DBFS sister company, Tradermade Systems.

Maples and Calder litigation partner Colin McKie has been appointed as Queen’s Counsel (QC), following recommendations from the local judiciary to the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Only seven private-sector attorneys have been appointed to QC in the Cayman Islands, including Andrew Jones QC, the former head of Maples and Calder’s litigation department and now a judge.
