Nasdaq Dubai and FTSE Russell have signed a license agreement for the exchange to launch derivatives on FTSE Russell’s Saudi Arabia equity indices.
In its first use of the license, Nasdaq Dubai intends to launch futures on theFTSE Saudi Arabia Index later this month on a date to be announced.
The futures, together with other derivatives to be launched in coming months under the license, will be designed to attract global and regional market participants including the many funds that use FTSE Russell’s indices as benchmarks for investing in Saudi equities.

The European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) has completed the acquisition of Grexel Systems Oy, a provider of energy certificate registries in Europe. The company currently operates 15 energy certificate registries in Europe.
With this transaction, EEX Group is expanding its activities in the registry business and will be able to actively develop the markets for guarantees of origin for renewable and other forms of energy. Over the last five or six years there has been tremendous consolidation in the alternative fund administration space, with the likes of SS&C Technologies and Apex Fund Services acquiring specialist fund administrators.
