Merlin Securities, a prime brokerage services and technology provider, has launched Merlin Dossier, a one-click solution that allows hedge fund managers to create detailed reports about their funds with up-to-date net performance information.

RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has been designated a primary dealer in Germany and France, effectively immediately.
Harry Samuel, global co-head of fixed income and currencies, RBC Capital Markets, says: “In the UK, we have been a gilt-edged market maker for over a decade and in the US, we were designated as a primary dealer to the Federal Reserve of New York in July 2009. Morgan Stanley has cleared over-the-counter interest rate swap transactions for clients of the firm at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
Trades were cleared on the first day of operation of the CME Clearing service for interest rate swaps.
This follows the previously announced clearing of client OTC credit default swap transactions at CME’s CDS clearing service.

A brisk month of trading on the secondary market saw investors move funds in all available asset classes, according to Hedgebay’s Global Hedge Fund Secondary Market Index, with private equity and credit strategies particularly popular.
The diversification of trading in September, combined with the high volume of trades, indicates that investors have returned to the secondary market in earnest after reduced volume over the summer months.
The heavy trading saw the index rise five per cent to 78.93 per cent, a rise of over 450 basis points from August.

The transaction was carried out using the Volume Match tool on BGC’s proprietary, hybrid execution platform, BGC Trader.
The BGC Trader platform offers customers the option of voice or electronic execution for over 50 BGC products across rates, credit, equity, commodity and foreign exchange products globally.
Volume Match is an auction-style tool that enables fully-electronic transaction of asset classes including credit default swaps, foreign exchange options and European interest rate swaps.

The London Metal Exchange will delist its plastics contracts and the last prompt date for all existing contracts will be 29 April 2011.
The formal decision to delist was taken by the board of the London Metal Exchange following a recommendation by the executive committee.
The exchange has decided that the costs of withdrawing outstanding warrants from the LMEsword depository will be waived. Current open interest for all plastics contracts is 228 lots, out to March 2011.

NYSE Liffe, the Europe-based derivatives business of NYSE Euronext, says the rules and trading procedures of the Amsterdam and Brussels derivatives markets have been harmonised after regulatory approval of their respective regulators, the AFM and the CBFA.
This harmonisation is based on the Amsterdam market model. It aims to allow an enhanced access of the Brussels derivatives market for more market participants, like on screen market makers and retail flow providers.
With the introduction of the Prof Trade facility in the Brussels derivatives market, professional market participants are offered a flexible mechanism to trade wholesale size in a regulated environment
