Apex Fund Services, a fund administration business, has launched a middle office fund administration service that gives hedge funds a real-time portfolio management system.
Apex has licensed Nirvana Solutions’ Software as a Service platform to provide hedge fund managers of all sizes with bespoke, real-time risk and profit and loss information services.
At the touch of a screen Nirvana will provide a fully hosted and managed interface for hedge fund managers, whilst Apex, via its global network, will provide a suite of reconciliation and administration services in real-time.

EuroCCP has partnered with Swift’s central trade matching platform to provide prime and executing brokers central counterparty clearing services for their over-the-counter pan-European equity trades.
The collaboration is one of the first to offer European prime and executing brokers the benefit of a CCP protection for their OTC equity trades.
EuroCCP will fulfill the obligations to settle the trade even if one party to a transaction defaults.
The brokers’ operational processing and settlement flow will be streamlined through netting multiple trades in the same security into single settlement obligations.

Derivatives exchange Eurex will be launching a future that is based on notional short-term debt instruments issued by the Republic of Italy (Buoni del Tesoro Poliennali – BTP) on 18 October 2010.
The contract will complement the Eurex benchmark interest rate derivatives family; along with the existing ten-year Euro BTP Future, the short-term BTP contract will serve as an appropriate hedging instrument for all non-triple-A-rated European government bonds as well as for other interest rate instruments (such as swaps).

Newedge USA has brokered and centrally cleared its first dealer-to-client interest rate swap transactions at the International Derivatives Clearinghouse, a derivatives clearing organisation owned by the International Derivatives Clearing Group and regulated by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
The initial interest rate swap transactions totaled over USD100m in notional value and involved asset manager and dealer clients.
Newedge joined IDCH’s client clearing platform as a member in March 2010.

Royal Bank of Scotland has launched 2,000 Turbos on NYSE Euronext in Paris, bringing the market total to 4,300.
These Turbos are already listed on NYSE Euronext in Amsterdam.
The Turbos introduced by RBS offer investors an increase in the choice of available strategies through exposure to a broad range of underlying assets: 31 French equities, 105 foreign equities, 44 indices, 24 commodities, ten currencies and seven bonds.

Multi-asset brokerage and clearing firm Newedge has become the sponsoring clearer to GH Financials as the first remote trading member in Euroyen Futures on the Tokyo Financial Exchange.
Newedge worked with GH Financials to fulfill its trading requirements through the complex application process, providing assistance to both the exchange and the client.
