RBC Global Asset Management’s specialist fixed income manager, BlueBay Asset Management, has proved its third European CLO, BBAM European CLO III DAC, and its inaugural public US CLO, BBAM US CLO I. The European CLO will issue EUR408.15 million notes arranged and placed with a syndicate of leading international institutional investors, by Citigroup Global Markets Limited. The transaction is expected to close on 25 March, 2022.   The US CLO will issue USD401.40 million notes arranged and placed with a syndicate of leading international institutional investors, by Barclays Capital Inc. The transaction is expected to close on 29 March, 2022.

Goldman Sachs and Man Group are partnering with the University of Warwick to deliver a new Level 7 Master’s Degree Apprenticeship, providing recent STEM graduates the opportunity to continue their further education while transitioning into full-time employment. Amundi has been appointed by St James’s Place (SJP) to manage a new GBP2.8 billion Global Absolute Return Multi-Strategy mandate. St James’s Place is a UK wealth management firm, founded in 1991, with over GBP153 billion of client funds under management.   The mandate will be sterling-denominated and will target an absolute return of cash + 5-6 per cent over a market cycle, based on a strategy that seeks to deliver positive returns in all market environments in the medium-term, with a low correlation to broader markets. Squarepoint Capital (Squarepoint), an established global investment firm that manages a diversified portfolio of systematic and quantitative strategies, has entered into a seed investment transaction with Decagon Asset Management (DAM), a specialised alternative asset manager focused on global risk arbitrage opportunities, whereby Squarepoint is committing long-term seed capital to DAM.
A new study of institutional investors and wealth managers, who collectively manage around USD110 billion in assets, reveals that 15 per cent believe that long-term over 10 per cent of the funds they help to manage will be in digital assets, including cryptocurrencies and tokenised investment vehicles. Trium Capital ethical hedge fund the Trium ESG Emissions Impact Fund has returned 5.8 per cent this year – ahead of 97 per cent of its peers – by avoiding big tech stocks such as Facebook owner Meta Platforms, according to a report by Bloomberg. Similar hedge funds have averaged a 0.8 per cent decline. Bloomberg quotes Trium co-Chief Executive Donald Pepper as saying that there are plenty of European companies that offer more more enduring ESG attributes. The fund’s holdings are said to include SSAB AB, Earmet SA, and Centrica.
The Royal Bank of Canada’s specialist fixed income manager, BlueBay Asset Management (BlueBay), has opened a new office in Madrid, Spain to serve Iberian investors more closely. BlueBay is particularly well-known in Europe, where it already has a direct presence in five countries. BlueBay has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of RBC Asset Management for more than a decade and the new BlueBay office will be located within the RBC Madrid office.  The new office will support both BlueBay’s fixed income clients, as well as the equities clients of its parent company, RBC Asset Management.
HITE Hedge Asset Management, an investment firm specialising in the energy sector and its transition, has sent a letter to the Board and Management of NiSource Inc encouraging the pursuit of a privatisation transaction for the business.
