The Credit Suisse Hedge Fund Index finished down 0.21 per cent in April, with six of the ten sub-strategies ending the month in positive territory. Dedicated Short Bias led the way with a return of 3.77 per cent, followed by Fixed Income Arbitrage (0.44 per cent), Managed Futures (0.42 per cent) and Convertible Arbitrage (0.33 per cent).   Long/Short Equity was the worst performer for the month finishing down 1.03 per cent, while Market Neutral (-0.70 per cent), Emerging Markets (-0.58 per cent) and Multi-Strategy (-0.43 per cent) also finished in negative territory.
BNP Paribas is the latest member on the TOM (The Order Machine) MTF derivatives market. Atlantic Fund Services (AFS) has launched services for funds in Austria – the company’s seventh market around the world and its third new market in 2014. As well as its home market, the Polish company also offers its services in Luxembourg, the US, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Liechtenstein, and now Austria.    “In the past three years we have taken huge steps down the path of international growth of the company. Angus Taylor has joined JTC Group as group head of fund services. BlackRock and Tradeweb Markets have formed a strategic alliance to create electronic trading solutions in the rates and derivatives markets. Private equity firm Northern Lights Capital Group, a provider of strategic capital and resources to boutique asset management firms, has made an investment in Buick Capital Partners. Buick is an independent, London-based private placement firm, providing advisory and placement services to alternative investment managers with strategies ranging from liquid hedge funds to private equity and other longer-term special situations vehicles.   The new company will be re-named Northern Lights Alternative Advisors (NLAA) and will provide expanded distribution and strategic capabilities for Northern Lights in the UK and Europe.
