The Israel hedge fund industry has seen a 33 per cent growth in assets in the past two years to USD2.7 billion under management, according to a survey by Tzur Management.
The survey covers 89 fund managers operating in Israel, representing a growth of 50 per cent in the number of active fund managers over the past two years.
Thirty new funds launched in 2013 alone, according to the study.

Managed futures gained 0.15 per cent in April, according to the Barclay CTA Index compiled by BarclayHedge.
The index is down 0.60 per cent in 2014.

Six of Barclay’s eight CTA indices were in positive territory in April. The Barclay Discretionary Traders Index gained 0.61 per cent, Agricultural Traders were up 0.58 per cent, Diversified Traders gained 0.19 per cent, and Systematic Traders added 0.13 per cent.

Institutional investors in Europe plan to reallocate their portfolios in the next 12 months adding equities and alternative investments at the expense of developed market sovereign debt, says AllianzGI.
A new survey has found that, like their global peers, around 30 per cent of European investors said they want to increase their allocation to international equities, with just six per cent wanting to reduce their position.

Hedge funds lost 0.24 per cent in April, according to the Barclay Hedge Fund Index compiled by BarclayHedge.
The index is up 1.14 per cent in 2014.
“Intra-month volatility in global equity markets proved troublesome for equity long/short funds as the MSCI World Index dropped three per cent in the first half of the month, yet managed to end the month with a one per cent gain,” says Sol Waksman, founder and president of BarclayHedge.
Twelve of Barclay’s 18 hedge fund indices lost ground in April. The Technology Index dropped 3.68 per cent, Healthcare & Biotechnology fell 3.64
European Central Counterparty (EuroCCP), the largest cash equities central counterparty in Europe, will be clearing trades executed on London Stock Exchange (LSE).
Firms using EuroCCP to clear UK equities trades executed on Aquis, BATS Chi-X, Equiduct, GETMatched, Sigma-X, SmartPool, Turquoise and UBS MTF will be able to direct LSE trades to EuroCCP and save at least 50 per cent on settlement costs.
Through cross-platform netting by EuroCCP, all trades in the same UK stock, regardless of where they are executed, can be netted with LSE trades into one single settlement obligation.

Dr Ed Altman has joined the high yield team at alternative asset management company Tradex in an alliance to help execute the firm's Short-Biased High Yield strategy.
Altman (pictured) is the Max L Heine Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business, New York University.
He is also the director of research in credit and debt markets at the NYU Salomon Center for the Study of Financial Institutions and a well-known high yield bankruptcy expert.

Palmer Square Capital Management’s first mutual fund, the Palmer Square Absolute Return Fund, has passed its third anniversary.
The Palmer Square Absolute Return Fund provides access to fund managers and strategies, including opportunistic credit strategies run by Palmer Square.
The fund seeks to achieve absolute returns over a market cycle with low beta and correlation to the traditional equity and fixed income markets.
Since its inception, the fund has grown to USD295 million in assets (as of 16 May 2014).
