Elwood Technologies, British hedge fund billionaire Alan Howard’s cryptocurrency trading platform, has attracted investment from Bothe Goldman Sachs and Barclays, according to report by The Financial Times. Venture capital firm Dawn Capital and the venture divisions of Germany’s Commerzbank, and US billionaire Mike Novogratz’s crypto finance group Galaxy Digital also participated in the round which vales the company at $500 million. News of the investment has emerged just as crypto assets have seen a sharp fall in value, with prices down by more then 50 per cent from the highs seen in 2021.
Options Technology, a leading Capital Markets services provider, has appointed Shaun Jackson as chief commercial officer. Jackson joined Options in April 2021 with two decades of experience in Finance and Commercial management roles. He previously worked at Luxoft, First Data (now Fiserv), and most recently at Fixnetix, where he held Chief Financial Officer and Chief Commercial Officer roles over his eleven-year tenure.
Crypto investment fund Superstack has received authorisation from the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission to operate a regulated crypto fund in the jurisdiction. Superstack is a newly established crypto fund, founded by London based Jesse Burgess and Klaus De Macedo in 2020. Superstack’s investment strategy will see the fund take positions in various digital assets and will operate as a collective investment scheme, which means that investors can gain exposure to digital assets without owning it outright.  The fund will invest in a variety of crypto and blockchain-related assets (including cryptocurrencies, stable coins, and tokens) through a combination of non-automated strategies,
GoldenTree Loan Management II (GLM II) and its affiliated investment manager GoldenTree Asset Management (GoldenTree), has closed a $599 million collateralised loan obligation (CLO) to be managed by GLM II. With the closing of this CLO, GoldenTree Loan Management US CLO 12 (GLM US CLO 12), GoldenTree has issued 18 CLOs totalling over $10.5 billion under its GLM CLO strategy. Managed Funds Association (MFA), the trade association for the global alternative asset management industry, has hired David Lourie as Vice President and Senior Counsel, Regulatory Affairs. Prior to joining MFA, Lourie served as Associate General Counsel at General Atlantic. Lourie brings a decade of experience in the alternative investment industry. Prior to joining MFA, he was Associate General Counsel and Vice President at General Atlantic where he worked closely on issues relating to ESG. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a law degree from the University of Southern California.

Elliott Management has shut up its Asian office, leading to its London office taking on more responsibility, according to a report from Financial News. The London office is preparing to take more control of its investment in the region. Last year, the hedge fund closes its Hong Kond office and moved staff to Japan and the UK. The decision to close also close its Tokyo office means that London will lead all of its new and existing campaigns.
Hedge funds again outperformed the S&P Total Return Index in April, despite losing 2.66%, bringing the year-to-date loss to -5.55%, according to BarclayHedge.
