Quilter Cheviot has strengthened its fund research team with the hire of Ghazanfar Saleem as a fund research analyst. Reporting to head of investment fund research Nick Wood, Saleem will be responsible for the analysis of alternative funds, including hedge funds, as well as funds within the fixed income universe. Saleem joins Quilter Cheviot from The Capital Partnership, an asset management and investment platform, where he oversaw hedge fund research and manager selection. He brings with him over 15 years of work experience in alternative investments, having previously worked as a senior analyst at hedge fund consultant Amber Partners, and
Global alternative investment firm Värde Partners as promoted three senior investment professionals to the role of Partner: Jim Dunbar, Aneek Mamik and Carlos Sanz Esteve.
DIGITEC, a specialist in FX Swaps and NDF pricing and data, has appointed Peer Joost as CEO. Previously Joost was COO at DIGITEC, where he has worked since October 2011. DIGITEC as over 40 bank clients globally, including more than 50 per cent of the Euromoney Top 50 FX trading firms. The firm’s market-leading services include the D3 multi-asset pricing engine and Swaps Data Feed (SDF), developed in partnership with 360T.
Mark P Ramsey is joining Kramer Levin’s New York office as a partner in its Corporate practice. For more than two decades, Mr. Ramsey has structured and negotiated complex syndicated, club and direct lending financing transactions on behalf of both borrowers and lenders, with a focus on leveraged buyouts, in- and out-of-court restructurings, dividend recapitalisations, asset-based loans and other corporate financing transactions.  Ramsey’s client base includes private equity funds and their portfolio companies, public and private operating companies, commercial and investment banks, direct lenders and other financial institutions. His experience includes secured and unsecured, mezzanine, and subordinated financing transactions, as
LiquidityBook, a provider of cloud-native buy- and sell-side trading solutions, has appointed James Baxter as Head of Global Buy-Side Sales. In this role, Baxter will be responsible for generating sales within the firm’s buy-side vertical. He will be based in LiquidityBook’s New York office and report directly to CEO Kevin Samuel.    Baxter will spearhead sales efforts for LBX Buy-Side, LiquidityBook’s cloud-based POEMS (portfolio, order and execution management system).   Baxter most recently served as Senior Director of New Sales at Eze Software Group, where he led a sizeable team and managed the company’s hedge fund sales for North America.
Apex Group Ltd (Apex), a global financial services provider, has appointed Barry O’Brien as Senior Director, Business Development. Based in Apex’s Dublin office, O’Brien reports to John Bohan, Co-Founder and Country Head Business Development (Ireland) who he will be working with to drive the firm’s continued growth in Ireland, a key hub for the Group.   O’Brien brings over 27 years of experience working in fund solutions business development and joins Apex from US Bank Global Fund Services where he was most recently Director, Business Development. New global research from VALK shows concerns about custodial services and security from institutional investors about Decentralised Finance (DeFi), although these are generally diminishing following strong growth in the sector and optimism about its future. The study among professional investors working for institutional investors, hedge funds, fund managers, pension funds, investment banks, private equity and venture capital in the UK, US, France, Germany, Hong Kong,Si ngapore, Australia, and Brazil in October 2021, found 54 per cent are very concerned about custodial services in DeFi while 52 per cent are very concerned about security issues. Berens brings with him significant experience garnered during a career spanning 28 years in the fund management industry having previously held positions at JP Morgan AM, Artemis IM and Stratevolve. Baker-Taylor joins CryptoUK having held a number of critical leadership roles in traditional finance and the digital assets industry, working directly with regulators and Capitol Hill policy makers. She is currently the Chief Policy Officer for the Digital Chamber of Commerce, a leading US trade association representing the digital asset and blockchain industry, and  leads the Chamber’s Policy and Government Affairs activities. PineBridge Investments (PineBridge), a private, global asset manager focused on active, high-conviction investing, has hired Nicolas Kopitsis as Head of Wealth Management for Asia. In this newly created role, Kopitsis will focus on increasing awareness and distribution of PineBridge’s investment capabilities to private banks and distribution platforms in the region.  Kopitsis has more than 20 years of asset management experience, most recently as Head of Intermediary Distribution Asia ex-Japan for BNY Mellon in Singapore.
