Asymmetry Capital Management, an alternative asset management firm launched in 2013 by Scott Kay, has appointed James Yin, PhD as an analyst covering global therapeutics, based in the firm’s San Francisco headquarters. Yin has conducted research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the University of Minnesota where he participated in breakthrough research to solve the atomic structure of the Rous Sarcoma Virus Intasome. Alpha Financial Markets Consulting (Alpha FMC) has appointed Ken Fry as Non-Executive Chairman, with Penny Judd and John Paton also joining the Board, as Senior Independent Non-Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer respectively. Fry (pictured), joined the Board in May 2016 as a Non-Executive Director and will become the Independent Non-Executive Chairman from 1 April 2018. REYL & Cie Ltd (REYL) has appointed Ante Razmilovic to head its new Structured Finance business to be run from its London office and part of the Corporate Advisory & Structuring business line. Based in REYL’s London office Razmilovic brings 25 years of experience from Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse in the structured and secured finance arena. Most recently Razmilovic worked at Goldman Sachs in London and Hong Kong, as Managing Director. Ares Management has appointed Myles Gilbert (pictured), former Managing Director at Cambridge Associates and Co-Chairman of its Credit Investment Committee, as Partner, Head of Investor Strategy & Solutions. Fulcrum Asset Management (Fulcrum) has appointed Mark Horne as a Director within the newly created Fulcrum Alternative Strategies team, reporting to Partner, Matthew Roberts. Horne (pictured), previously worked as an independent asset management consultant in London and Paris. Prior to that he was a senior credit manager researcher at Willis Towers Watson and was director of client services at Natixis Global Associates.   Roberts says: “Mark will be a tremendous addition to the team. His experience and expertise in the alternative credit markets will be crucial in helping us develop our range of solutions for clients.”
UMB Bank, a subsidiary of UMB Financial Corporation, has promoted two UMB Fund Services (UMBFS) executives – Tony Fischer and Maureen Quill (pictured). Fischer has been promoted to national sales director for UMB Fund Services, Investor Solutions, Corporate Trust and Custody at UMB. His responsibilities include business development and strategy, as well as providing leadership to the sales team to ensure collaboration. Man GLG, the discretionary investment management business of Man Group, has appointed Louise Pugh as a portfolio manager for its European Mid-Cap Equity strategy. Pugh will continue to report to Moni Sternbach, strategy portfolio manager and Head of European Mid-Cap Equities.   Pugh joined Man GLG in 2015 as an analyst for the European Mid-Cap Equity strategy. THL Credit Advisors (THL Credit) has named Brian Murphy (pictured), as Head of Capital Markets. Murphy, who is based in Chicago, is a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager for THL Credit’s Tradable Credit strategy.
