The Futures and Options Association has appointed Kathleen Traynor as director of regulation, effective January 2011. Traynor joins the FOA from London Stock Exchange Group, where she was head of regulatory strategy. Prior to that role, she was senior associate, equity markets, at the UK’s Financial Services Authority. She also spent six years at TSX Group (now TMX Group, operator of Canada’s stock and derivatives exchanges) as senior legal counsel. Butterfield Fulcrum, a fund administration company for the alternative investment industry, has appointed Edwin Parker as director of business development for the EMEA region.  Parker will start in February 2011 and be based in the London office, which has recently relocated to Mayfair.  He will be responsible for identifying and developing strategic partnerships to strengthen and expand Butterfield Fulcrum’s client base throughout Europe and its surrounding emerging markets.   Parker will work closely with Mark Boyes who joined Butterfield Fulcrum earlier this year as Director, EMEA business development. Christopher Spiegleman, former director of tax at J.H. Whitney, has joined the Metro New York alternative investment funds practice at WTAS as a managing director in the Greenwich office. Spiegelman brings a strong background in multiple industries and areas of taxation including investment partnerships, alternative investments, private equity, hedge and debt funds.  At Whitney, Spiegelman addressed tax planning and structuring issues at the investor level, fund level, portfolio investment level and fund manager level. Fund administrator HSBC Securities Services (Guernsey) has appointed Amit Taylor as a managing director. Taylor, a Chartered Accountant, was previously European head of sales for asset managers in London. Before joining HSBC, Taylor held several roles within PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he helped to build its investment management consultancy business in the UK and was manager in the investment management division of the audit and assurance practice.
RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada, has hired Patrick Bauné as a managing director, head of corporate and institutional FX sales Europe and corporate FX sales Asia. Bauné will be based in London and reports to Avril Pomper, head of fixed income and currencies and financial products sales, Europe, RBC Capital Markets. The Swiss Funds Association has appointed Petra Reinhard Keller of Credit Suisse Asset Management Funds in Zurich to its board of directors. Reinhard Keller is a managing director and head fund solutions and clients services as well as deputy chief executive of Credit Suisse Asset Management Funds. She replaces Raoul-Philip Bachmann, who has left Credit Suisse and has thus stepped down from the SFA board of directors.
