Sean Ruhmann has joined Cambridge, Massachusetts-based adviser NEPC as a senior consultant in the firm’s alternative investments research group.
He previously was a vice president of investment banking with Goldman Sachs.
“Throughout his career at Goldman Sachs and Banc of America Securities, Sean has been providing innovative advice to his clients, particularly in the areas of private markets and real estate,” says Erik Knutzen, chief investment officer of NEPC. “We are excited to add a person with Sean’s experience to deepen our research resources.”

Martin Fridson is joining BNP Paribas Asset Management, a US registered investment adviser, as global credit strategist within its global credit investment team.
BNP Paribas Asset Management is a part of the BNP Paribas Investment Partners business line.
Previously, Fridson (pictured) was the chief executive of Fridson Investment Advisors, which was a fundamental, research-driven US registered investment advisory firm.
The global credit team will house all of the credit management expertise – combining 22 credit analysts – of BNP Paribas Investment Partners with a goal of bringing focus and driving performance to the various credit offerings.

PVE Capital, a London-based macro credit fund manager which launched in October 2009, has made five additional hires.
Loren Remetta, an index trader most recently at UBS in London, joins as a portfolio manager to focus on liquid credit products within the trading platform at PVE.
Alexei Garan, Melody Adams and David Yuen join from Credaris, where they previously worked with two of the founding partners, Gennaro Pucci (pictured) and Christian Evans. Garan, Adams and Yuen strengthen the analytical and trading functions in ABS, CDO and financial modelling respectively

Structured Portfolio Management, a fixed income alternative asset management firm, has expanded its investment team with the hire of four professionals: Mehdi Malaki, Yicheng Zhong, Qian Yang, and Kyle Johnson.
Malaki will concentrate on capital structure transactions within the SPM Opportunity Fund; Zhong and Yang will join the mortgage research and risk management teams respectively; and Johnson brings his experience from S.A.C. Capital Advisors to the firm’s software team.
Malaki joins SPM as a managing director and will work alongside Vishal Bhutani (also managing director) in managing the fixed income multi-strategy Opportunity Fund. Previously, Malaki was a senior analyst
Deutsche Bank has hired Bob Keller as a managing director in global credit trading within the bank’s global markets division.
Keller will trade cash and credit default swaps and report to Masaya Okoshi, managing director and head of investment grade credit trading in the Americas.
Keller will be based in New York.
He joins from Jefferies where he spent a year as a senior vice president in investment grade cash trading. Prior to Jefferies, Keller spent nine years at Merrill Lynch, most recently as a director in investment grade trading.

Otkritie Securities has appointed Howard Snell as executive chairman.
In a series of internal appointments, the company has also promoted Evgeny Kunts to deputy chief executive officer.
In addition to the new management appointments, Otkritie will be building up its sales trading team based in London. Otkritie has relocated head of equity trading Nicholas Richmond from Moscow to London, who has been tasked with expanding the trading team in the UK over the next 12 months.

Prime Fund Solutions, the hedge fund administration business currently being sold by Fortis Bank to Credit Suisse, has made a number of hires across its network of offices.
Jay Moghe has joined Prime Fund Solutions’ Singapore office as deputy managing director in charge of sales and relationship management. Moghe has over 20 years of experience in financial markets, the last eight of which have been within the hedge fund space. He previously founded Asian Alternative Consulting after senior positions at OPAM/Stork Capital and APS Asset management.
Martin Lui has taken on the role of director of client services and operations
GAM has appointed Paul Udall as investment director in its London office.
Udall will manage an equity mandate which will invest in environmental and sustainable investment themes.
The Ucits III fund, which is expected to launch later this year, will focus on investment opportunities that are being generated by the transformative change in how energy, resources and materials are developed, delivered and consumed.
Udall was previously at Climate Change Capital where he was managing director and portfolio manager of the global environmental opportunities long/short fund.

Fusion Asset Management has appointed Peter Heaps, managing director of Carne Global Cayman Islands, as an independent director to its board of directors of Fusion Volatility Funds.
Fusion Asset Management has managed the Fusion Volatility Fund since 2008.

Plenum Investments has added welcomes Dirk Schmelzer, a portfolio manager of insurance linked securities, to the company.
Schmelzer is a Cat Bond fund manager who has many years of experience in the insurance linked securities field.
Previously Schmelzer worked at Falcon Private Bank, Zurich ex AIG Privat Bank. In his time at Falcon he was the head portfolio manager of a Cat Bond fund with an AUM of approximately CHF200m.
Prior to this he was acting director of fund research and analysis of alternative investments at VZ VermögensZentrum.
